Georgetown University tries to define what is acceptable evangelism on campus, while its Protestant students explore the most effective ways for respectfully sharing their faith
A new anti-proselytizing policy at Georgetown University has spurred debate about where the line is between vigorous faith-sharing and intolerance.
In adopting the policy, the Jesuit school joined a growing number of colleges and universities trying to spell out what constitutes acceptable evangelism in an America that is increasingly religiously diverse and less comfortable with absolutes.
Major denominational groups have made similar efforts over the years, and employment lawyers say cases about evangelizing in the workplace are becoming more common as well.
The trend in the new rules is to equate proselytizing, a neutral word in the dictionary for the act of trying to convert or convince someone, with badly intentioned or harmful evangelizing. But the lines aren't always so neat for evangelical Americans, who say evangelism -- at Georgetown and elsewhere -- seems to have entered a new zone....
JY I beleive you already know the answer to your question. Yes! If anyone is genuinely saved, born again of the Holy Spirit they will go to heaven and most likey be utterly broken hearted at how they sinned against Jesus Christ who died for them for the sins they've committed against Him, especially such a vile and wretched sin as spiritual adultery in remaining in the Roman Catholic Religion.
By observation I believe it is safe to say God will discipline such a one staying in the Roman Catholic False Church, even discipline them severly to bring them out of it and into obedience to His will or even take their life if that is what it requires but He will not leave His child in the spiritual whore house of the Roman Catholic Religion. So why do you stay?
GG is a more honest RC than you are. At least he defends what he believes about the RCC, while you straddle the religious fence. You must be the only Protestant RC on Sermon Audio, neither here nor there. Does "lukewarm" ring any bells for you?
Michael:Yes or no? If an RC becomes Born Again by praying to Christ and asking Him to become their Savior and they do not leave the RCC and do not join a Fundamentalist Protestant Church, will they gain entrance into Heaven?
GG:Repent of and renounce the unscriptural RCC doctrines and the unscriptural parts to the Mass and embrace and receive Christ as your Savior or else when you stand before Christ after you pass away then He will tell you "Depart from me you worker of iniquity into the Lake Of Fire prepared for the devil and his angels". You have been warned.
MH: "Are you sure you really want to convert us to Roman Catholicism?" --- Yes, how else will you come to the truth?
"Your Jesus cannot save completely and forever a person by himself alone from their sins." --- Funny, in his Bible he claims that he can!
"Your religion...Roman Catholic when he or she dies will make it into purgatory...no Biblical reason...exists." --- Catholics can and do go to heaven without stopping in Purgatory first. The evidence of its existence is biblical but (a) Your Reformers tore that part of the bible out a long time ago. (b) The other evidence you refuse to accept.
"Your religion literally practise idolatry...God Himself says hate Him...pretend that you don't." --- Idolatry is the "WORSHIP" of Idols; like you might worship the KJV Bible for instance. Good Catholics only worship God. The Statues are not unlike the graphics that were found in both of the Jewish Temples, where idolatry was not tolerated.
I don't think you are much of a friend to try to convert us either. --- Nonsense. I wish for you the very best acommodation on the Barque of St Peter...where the food and drink is Divine.
So what's the problem? You tell them that this is not MY opinion, I am telling you what the Bible says and what Jesus says. It's not a conjecture of mine. Then when they ask for evidence or proof, You go further speaking about the authority of the Bible and the resurrection upon which it is built. And even if they don't ask, you can always say, with a with a "it sounds right to me" tone- Hey, it's what the Bible says. I'm just the messenger. Go consult God if you don't beleive me. Read the Bible on your own.
GG, Are you sure you really want to convert us to Roman Catholicism?
Your jesus cannot save completely and forever a person by himself alone from their sins.
Your religion can at best hope, and that is a huge stretch, that a devote Roman Catholic when he or she dies will make it into purgatory a place you have no Biblical reason to believe even exists.
Your religion literally practise idolatry an iniquitity of those God Himself says hate Him and vainly tries to pretend that you don't.
And you want us to convert to a religion that will one day be judged by God and suffer His wrath? I don't think so
and for that matter I don't think you are much of a friend to try to convert us either.
But thank you for reminding us of how lost Catholic people are and how much they need to come out of Catholicism, be saved from their sins and be born again of the Holy Spirit and know Jesus Christ and in Him eternal life.
