Bishops: Floods are judgment on society
The floods that have devastated swathes of the country are God's judgment on the immorality and greed of modern society, according to senior Church of England bishops.

One diocesan bishop has even claimed that laws that have undermined marriage, including the introduction of pro-gay legislation, have provoked God to act by sending the storms that have left thousands of people homeless.

While those who have been affected by the storms are innocent victims, the bishops argue controversially that the flooding is a result of Western civilisation's decision to ignore biblical teaching. ...

Praise God for the courage of this Bishop. He is defending the Word of God. More judgment than floods is coming.

"The answer is not to get bible reading back in schools, its to getting it back in our homes and chuches!"

Amen to your post.

The saints of God will never convert the entire world. However, the mission of the saints is to live holy lives that are a rebuke to the evil world, and with the preaching of the Gospel win those who will believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.

Trying to accomplish the ministry of Christ through legislature and public schooling is foolishness. Change of hearts through regeneration is the only effectual means of changing society. Laws do not save souls.

cbc preacher, Amen to your post codemning the Christianization of America.

We don't need the government schools. We need God, and nobody is stopping us from having Him. We're free to embrace Him into our lives anytime we choose.

We don't need to wait until the government decides to include God into their schools or institutions. The government's schools are their church, church of Satan, and they just need to close them down altogether and Christians need to stop funding them and sending their children to them.

KK, you are so quick to rebuke people for not agreeing with you in the "christianization" of America. I have a rebuke for you! The answer is not to get Bible reading back into schools, it's to get it back into our homes and churches! We don't need to strive for prayer in school, we need to get it back into our churches and families! The answer is not to legislate morality in the public square, it is to get holiness back into the lives of God's people! The problem is that it's easier to fight for Bible reading in school than it is to practice it personally! It's much simpler to petition for prayer in school than it is to get into our prayer closets to seek God's face! It's feels so good to make everyone else obey the Bible than it is to practice personal holiness and church discipline for blatant sin! God said in His Word, "If My people will humble themselves and pray". It starts with us! "And seek My face and turn from their wicked ways". We need to be the ones turning from sin and obeying God's Word! "THEN", and not until then! "will I hear from Heaven and heal their land". I want to see the US restored to its past glory, but it will only happen through God's people getting right with Him. Not through the schoolhouse or the White House! The question is:WILL WE?

There's *nothing more REPULSIVE* than a people who have THE TRUTH -- who have A VOICE -- and will not USE IT

GOD IS GOING TO TEACH this perversly compartmentalized, doctrinally divided, denominationally deformed Church A THING OR TWO

This is a people that *will not* HEAR SOUND REPROOF

a people that have *no concept* of TRUE REPENTANCE

a people whose hearts are hardened in the decietful doctrines of men

a people whose ears are *itching* For Every Convenient TRUTH

a people that have so many missions [seeking to save the world] yet have BLINDLY FAILED ***TO ACT IN ONE ACCORD***, ***OF ONE MIND***, ***WITH ONE VOICE***, TO FOIL the efforts of those who have come against ALL THAT IS ***JUST, TRUE AND GOOD*** in their own land

a people who *will not* STAND FOR their own

a people who *will not* STAND "FOR GOD And Country"

a people so selfishly divided that they *will not* COME TOGETHER

a people who have FORGOTTEN THE PAST

a people with *no* VISION FOR THE FUTURE of their own Country

a people whose Leaders have FORSAKEN GODLY PRINCIPLES

a people whose Pulpits have sold their VOICES OF TRUTH for tax-exemption

What shuld be said of a people who comprimize TRUTH ???

WOE to this ReLiGiOuS people...

Yes, an Anglican Bishop or two have made some good comments, I do have news for some of them, the colonial system did collapse at the end of WWII. While we should be ecologically responsible, it is not the Western nations who are responsible for most of the pollution!

"Paul has shown that God's wrath is poured out on mankind because man has rejected the knowledge of God. That's true of every single person wherever they are in the world. God has revealed Himself through His creation but humanity has rejected that knowledge. In response to man's rejection, God has turned mankind over to his sin and depravity. God has not caused man's sin and depravity but He has turned him over to his desires. Man rejects God. Man rejects the Lordship of God in his life. Therefore mankind in the judgment of God is given over to his sinful desires to pursue the destructive ways that he loves"

Personally I think Anglican bishops are a judgment on western society

(as far as American Anglican bishops go)

Whilst to an extent I can see where the Bishop is coming from, I would suggest he looks further back in our history and a little deeper into our lifestyle persuasions which have recently emerged.
For example if you look at Romans chapter one, you find that the first error they make is to move away from the Word of God. Whereas this Bishop is entitled "evangelical" he is very much a part of a predominantly Liberal organisation. The Anglicans are historically part of the problem rather than part of the solution, since their journey has planted the seeds which brought us to this modern corrupt mindset. God has vast patience and does not react instantaneously to societal iniquities, otherwise we would all get good and zapped from above. But of course God does not bless the nations who reject Him and renounce His Son. Further who repudiate His Holy Writ.

2Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

I happened to be watching Sky News as "experts" were discussing the recent terrorism when this was announced and the studio echoed with shouts of "dont be stupid"/"nonsense", but could I suggest that the Rt Rev Graham Dow, Bishop of Carlisle has more sense than the lot of them lumped together, but sound council doesn`t fit into this crazy mixed-up and sinful age.
