HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Sen. Barack Obama told a church convention Saturday that some right- wing evangelical leaders have exploited and politicized religious beliefs in an effort to sow division.
"Somehow, somewhere along the way, faith stopped being used to bring us together and started being used to drive us apart. It got hijacked," the Democratic presidential candidate said in remarks prepared for delivery before the national meeting of the United Church of Christ.
"Part of it's because of the so-called leaders of the Christian Right, who've been all too eager to exploit what divides us," the Illinois senator said....
Point taken, I just meant Das Kapital in that Obama is a thoroughgoing socialist and probably agrees with far more of the teachings found in Marx's writings than those of the Bible.
Election2008-- It wasn't nitpicking, it was teasing at a post of yours I thought was actually discussing shapeshifters a la David Icke. If you meant it in the metaphorical sense, the word you're looking for is "chameleon" or perhaps "demagogue" (in the sense that the demagogue shifts to match the prevailing opinion of the 'demos'--i.e. the base masses.). You should use these words if that's what you mean. Anybody who reads the words "shapeshifter" together in the same posts with "illuminati" and so forth is going to assume you mean shapeshifters literally--you should expect to be misunderstood. All the same, sorry for the misunderstanding.
...Although I do maintain that Obama is a reptile--in some sense or another .
Anonymous nitpickingly said: "Shapshifters...give me a break."
Shapeshifters, as a simile, as in raining cats and dogs, hot as a pistol, or even "chameleon-like" which is a word I could have used to mean the same thing as "shapeshifter."
Shapeshifters, meaning a person who changes his personality and viewpoints and his "line" in order to fit in and be accepted.
The Bible calls them "men pleasers."
I know David Icke says the Illuminati are actual shapeshifters who can assume the form of horrid demonic reptiles. I don't disbelieve this; I can see where it could happen.
But my use of the word was as a simile, not that I'm saying anybody is turning into a literal physical reptilian.
Vic-- Vic says: "Show me where in the bible that the king is to steal from the rich, and give to the poor!?"
Well if we're talking about Obama's bible (namely Das Kapital), the book is full of that teaching!
Vic says: "Is he not confusing the compassion of the Church with the oppression of the state??"
Well put! So many people fail to make that distinction and come out thinking, for example, the gov't. has a duty to impose universal healthcare and other socialist agendas.
Election2008--
Shapeshifters, you say, eh?
Did you know Obama is a shapeshifter too? It's true. One time I saw him shapeshift into a turtle, then a duck. You should've been there it was great. Then he shapeshifted into two planes and crashed himself into the WTC! Not a lot of people know that. Let me know if you come accross any other shapeshifters. Gotta keep our eyes open, you know.
You said: "For example, do you believe that the destruction of the Twin Towers in New York city was a conspiracy which involved the President of the United States and others within his cabinet? I am reasonably sure that you do, unless I am very mistaken. That idea of a conspiracy is an assumption based upon nothing but blatant hatred for our country's president."
"The world is in inspeakable misery and just because you are comfortable and satisfied, you think it's always going to be that way."
I agree with the first part of this sentence, but the last half of your sentence is untrue and based solely upon assumption. I did not say, nor did I even suggest, that I was in any way satisfied with things as they are currently. The fact is, we are in very serious trouble in this nation. I don't need to read all of the things which you have suggested to be troubled by what I see. It is very evident that God is bringing judgment upon this country for its many evils. But having said that, I think you have gone way too far in your accusations against many of whom you have no proofs whatsoever, save someone else's biased words and opinions. In some things you may be right, but I would be very inclined to question the credibility of some of those whom you deem trustworthy. For example, do you believe that the destruction of the Twin Towers in New York city was a conspiracy which involved the President of the United States and others within his cabinet? I am reasonably sure that you do, unless I am very mistaken. That idea of a conspiracy is an assumption based upon nothing but blatant hatred for our country's president.
Alan H, If you want to chalk off what I said to personal paranoia and insanity, without even looking into anything I've said, when you're only a click or surf away from finding out for yourself, you are the one who must live with the consequences of what you do, and you obviously wear your ignorance proudly.
The world is in inspeakable misery and just because you are comfortable and satisfied, you think it's always going to be that way.
Well, it won't be, and you are going to eat your words. In fact, things are way worse than I've said, and selfish, mocking people deserve to discover first-hand what's true and what isn't true.
Believe me, I wasn't laughing; there was nothing funny about your original post... I took what you said very seriously, but only as it reveals that you are a very fearful and troubled soul, trusting no one.
"...you should keep your fearful emotions to yourself instead of speaking from fear and ignorance on a public forum."
Were you commenting about yourself or about me? The words seem to fit you better.
"Not everyone is a part of your conspiracy theory... That was what I was referring to."
Can you be specific as to what you disagree with rather than just laughing off everything I said as "paranoid?"
If I said something that's wrong, please just point it out, after having checked it out for yourself first. Otherwise, if you have no information other than a horror at hearing information you don't like and a kneejerk reaction to deny what I say as "paranoid," you should keep your fearful emotions to yourself instead of speaking from fear and ignorance on a public forum.
Alan H, Can you spell clueless, propagandized, ignorant and deluded?
If you think I'm wrong about what I've said, why not check it out?
Like the videos online that show Rudy Giuliani dressed in drag? Did you know he dressed in drag to march in the homo parade in NYC? You think this is okay stuff? You like Giuliani? You know his family is big-time mafia? That he moved in with a homosexual and lived with him in his apartment three years while mayor of NYC, claimed he "slept on the couch?" (I suppose you believe Rudy on that too!)
You don't believe me that Hillary meets with Murdach and Roger Ailes of Fox TV on a weekly basis to plot her strategy to become the next president (read queen)?
If you think what I'm saying is just paranoid rantings, at least check out what I'm saying before you pass judgment.
You are living in Disneyland, and it's time to come down to earth and face reality that the real terrorists are our own government (Republicans and Democrats all work for the same people, and the Bushes and Clintons are best friends) and their lying, shapeshifting minions -- who blew up the Twin Towers and murdered 3,000 innocent American citizens, knowing people like you would buy any lame Al Quada conspiracy theory they wanted to throw your way.
Brothers remember believing the word of God creates enmity with the World. The Gospel divides the wheat from the chaff. This is the darkness that the Bible speaks of in wicked men. Paul said it is foolish to the Greek and stumbling to the Jew. I am blessed that the Gospel provided a divison between me and the sin that I was steeped in. Yes, I very proud to wear the banner of truth for LORD Jesus Christ my savior.
These words will tickle the ears of his Marxist base.
"I don't know what Bible they're reading, but it doesn't jibe with my version."
Show me where in the bible that the king is to steal from the rich, and give to the poor!? Is he not confusing the compassion of the Church with the oppression of the state??
Obama is what they call a "rising star," meaning somebody tapped by the criminal globalists to do their bidding.
More "rising stars" include Sean Hannity and the other so-called "conservative" talk show hosts, who are paid liars for the Illuminati, doing a great job pacifying and distracting Christians and conservatives.
Meantime, Rupert Murdach and Roger Ailes meet weekly, if not daily, with Hillary to promote her election as a "conservative" as president. As Alex Jones says, the brokeback horses named Giuliani (mafia gangster, transvestite, homosexual, complicit in 9/11) and McCain (a NeoCON traitor) will be put up by the globalists against Hillary (the demonized thoroughbred), guranteeing her election.
There is only one person who can beat Neocon, cryptoJew Hillary. That person is the man who has won every debate, the one who the Republican lackeys for the Secret Government are trying desperately to marginalize out of the race.
Ron Paul, our last chance to save the country. Otherwise, the concentration camps that Bush the Decider has built will be filled by Hillary. The police state dictatorial powers grabbed by Bush will be used by Hillary to the total destruction of America, bringing on the New World Order and the bloodshed and murder of BILLIONS of people.
Osama Hussein Obama is a member of the UCC, the most left-wing of all Christian denominations (the only thing more left wing is UU, which is not any longer Christian). Furthermore Obama's home church is one of these left-wing, anti-white, racist, socialist "social justice" pander factories. His pastor's been on the hot seat a number of times for making racist remarks.
