MCLEAN, Va. ‚Äď The greatest problem in the Church isn't a lack of education or resources or a need for better worship or preaching. But what the church lacks most is guts, says the leader of a flourishing ‚Äútwenty-something‚ÄĚ church.
It's time for a leadership "gut check," said Mark Batterson, lead pastor of National Community Church in Washington.
Over 500 leaders of twenty- and thirty-somethings nodded their heads realizing what they needed wasn't just more information on how to do ministry, but the guts to actually put faith into practice....
Mark Batterson sounds like any other another motivational speaker with a religous bent. If said "guts" do not originate from the Holy Spirit it may fill church pews and offering plates but not God's kingdom.
'"Faith is the willingness to look foolish," said [Mark] Batterson. "If you aren't willing to look foolish, you won't experience the miracles of God."'
Define 'foolish.' Strange, peculiar, silly like a little kid, conspicuous?
The 'miracle of God' is the salvation of man through the finished work of Christ Jesus who suffered, died, rose from the physically dead, and now reigns spiritually in Heaven. The 'miracle of God' is when man is convicted by the truth of God's holiness and of His holy laws and recognizes that he, the man, is utterly unable to obey without help. The 'miracle of God' is His Holy Spirit who is our constant comfort and help and who keeps our conscience keen to the demands of God.
The 'miracle of God' is that God so loves his creatures that every moment He wills good and carries them out even though we as His creatures cannot SEE them. The 'miracle of God' allows to us become redeemed, forgiven, and cleansed children whom God Himself rears by allowing persecution, suffering, disease, and even death in the lives of His children to teach us the TRUE LIFE of Christ Jesus--which is peace and joy in the manner of God's holy LOVE!
In short, the 'miracle of God' is the Love of God in His Son, Jesus Christ.
