BELFAST (Reuters) - Northern Ireland's Protestant and Roman Catholic leaders, arch-foes during decades of bloodshed, launched a new power-sharing government in the province on Tuesday aiming to put a final end to violence.
Hardline Protestant cleric Ian Paisley and Sinn Fein's Martin McGuinness took a pledge of office as first minister and deputy first minister in the government that will have authority over local issues in the province.
The ceremony could help to cement political stability in the province which, since a 1998 peace accord, has largely ended 30 years of sectarian conflict that killed 3,600 people.
"I affirm the terms of the pledge of office," Paisley said, binding himself to a pledge which includes a commitment to non-violence and support for policing in the province....

This Is were the FPC went wrong, you cannot join politics & christianity as one, as the big man has done over the years, this also was the downfall of many other famous preacher's as well. Why ? because, the two are at complete odds with each other, and have different standards, there should be no ambiguity.
Were you so concerned about the influence of Gerry Adams and Martin Mcginnis; - you would regularly pray for their conversion and salvation?

Sure enough, as long as the "good" understand that the magistrates decide who the "good" are and who the "evil-doers" are. Come to think of it, that's likely the reason Paragraph 1 was written.

Allison, it's been stated over and over again at this website that the FPC is not a political party, action committee, or what have you. It is the calling of the church first and foremost to preach the gospel and not be so caught up in the political affairs of this world that that is compromised or impaired. Jerry Falwell was a perfect example of what happens to the message when the political affairs of this present world become a "minister's" primary focus. I rejoice that John Greer and others have not used the Lord's Day to preach on the political situation in the UK or Northern Ireland. I only wish that many of our own so-called ministers, James Dobson, D. James Kennedy, etc., would follow their example.
The people of N. Ireland have given Dr Paisley a mandate to enter goverment with sinn fein .The electors know that if sinn fein dont come up to the mark that the Dup party led by DR Paisley will bring it crashing down
I find it interesting that Lurker says the RCC twists history. But, if I remember correctly, the RCC has never denied wrong-doing for the Inquistion, for the Crusades, mistreatment of Galilao and Copernicus. The Pope has even apoligized for such. Where is Protestant remorse for Protestant wrong-doing? In fact, most Protestants are either not aware of wrong-doing by their early co-religious or they don't give a hoot. Who therefore is more guity of twisting history...Lurk? As for your assertion that God took scriptures from us and gave them to you, then apparently God slipped up, because you guys immediately dropped 7 books of inspired scripture. Thats a no-no.

The Catholic Church twists history as well trying to put a favorable spin on the fact that God wrested His oracles away from the RCC and put them in the hands of a people who would bring forth the fruit thereof. The only "delivery" wrought by the RCC was to the fire.
