Tiny terrier dies after saving 5 kids from pit bulls
WELLINGTON, New Zealand - A plucky foot-high Jack Russell terrier named George saved five New Zealand children from two marauding pitbulls, but was so severely mauled in the fight he had to be destroyed, his owner said Wednesday.
George was playing with the group of children as they returned home from buying sweets at a neighborhood shop in the small North Island town of Manaia last Sunday when the two pitbulls appeared and lunged toward them, his owner Allan Gay said.
"George was brave — he took them on and he's not even a foot high," Gay told The Associated Press. "He jumped in on them, he tried to keep them off.
"If it wasn't for George, those kids would have copped it."...
They've been made to fight. Actually it is a wonderful breed: affectionate, loyal and loving. But they have been brutally treated by druggies and the like and tied on stakes until they are raving mad. It makes me sick that you would call them warped--it is entirely man's doing. Caesar Milan, the dog trainer on "dog whisperer" on national geograhic channel, LOVES PIT BULLS THE BEST. They are wonderful pets and many great dogs are being persecuted and killed with the rest. Blame man not dog, who is man's best friend.
The law of Moses today serves as a guide which is applicable to any nation. The closer the law of Caesar conforms to the law of Moses, the better for the nation.
When Christians within the nation generally are faithful to the Scripture and free of doctrinal error, the "salt and light" influence (Matthew 5:13-16) which they exert brings change for the better within society, the Lord working on their behalf.
A king who is wise seeks to rule justly. His best guide is the Scripture in general and the law of Moses in particular. The Psalms and the Proverbs teach that such a king prospers and prolongs his reign.
Good question. I think it pertains not only to incorrigible delinquents, but a fortiori, to repeat offenders in general - parents are not spared the reqm't to be diligent in bringing such to justice. It is the pattern of disobedience that is the problem, not the specific offenses (it is not otherwise a crime to get drunk or eat too much). In any case, only civil judges have the authority to sentence them, as opposed to Roman Law, in which fathers had absolute power over the family.
I agree with expositor on this one. I know it sounds extreme in our modern feminized western world but these kind of people do deserve the death penalty according to the UNCHANGING moral laws of the Scriptures. Some cantons (counties) in Switzerland have already prohibited the owning of dangerous dog-breeds like pitbulls and others after there have been some gruesome incidents with children and animals being killed by these warped creatures.
As it says in the Articles of the Re-reformed Church of the Ozarks: "And if any man declare that the New Covenant abolishes the customary law of the Old Covenant, let him be anathema."
To mock the Law of God is to mock God himself, and to bring upon yourself the wrath of the Lord. But the righteous fear the Lord and keep his Law.
2 Chronicles 36:15-16 - And the Lord God of their fathers sent by the hand of his prophets; rising early and sending his messengers, for he spared his people, and his sanctuary. Nevertheless they sneered at his messengers, and set at nought his words, and mocked his prophets, until the wrath of the Lord rose up against his people, till there was no remedy.
A pit bull being a dog bred for the purpose of fighting and killing, whenever a pit bull kills a human, the owner should be put to death, per verse 29:
Exodus 21:28-32 - 28 And if a bull gore a man or woman and they die, the bull shall be stoned with stones, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the bull shall be clear. 29 But if the bull should have been given to goring in former time, and men should have told his owner, and he have not removed him, but he should have slain a man or woman, the bull shall be stoned, and his owner shall die also. 30 And if a ransom should be imposed on him, he shall pay for the ransom of his soul as much as they shall lay upon him. 31 And if the bull gore a son or daughter, let them do to him according to this ordinance. 32 And if the bull gore a man-servant or maid-servant, he shall pay to their master thirty silver didrachms, and the bull shall be stoned.
If I was the owner of those 2 pit bulls, I'd be building a monument to that brave little terrier, not just for saving those kids but for keeping ME out of the BIG trouble I no doubt would be in had my dogs gotten to those kids!
An obvious downside to guns is that they can be stolen and used to hurt/kill others, but at least they can't jump out of the safe by themselves and go marauding around and threatening people.
