NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)--Church is good for children.
That's the message of a new study that says young children of churchgoing parents fare better behaviorally, emotionally and cognitively than do children of parents who never attend church. In fact, the more often the parents attend, the better off the kids are.
The study by sociologist John P. Bartkowski and a team of researchers at Mississippi State University examined data from the nationwide Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, which evaluated first-graders by interviewing parents and teachers. In the data Bartkowski used, some 9,500 parents and 8,800 teachers were interviewed. The ECLS study was sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics....
Genesis 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; 18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; 19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
This promise of God was not just for Adam but also his progeny. Man including God's children, were not predestinated to success and easy life, but to struggle, trial and tribulation. This works out in all mans endeavours - education included.
Indeed, Juniper, indeed. As we are called to love that which God and hate that which God hates, we have an obligation to hate the chaff. It is good to be one of the elect and have our inheritance in full!
The "Christianity is good for you" pragmatism implied by this article was sharply denounced in this sermon: www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?currSection=&sermonID=10180222445
Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
"Pedestinated" kids must do as well as they are "predestined" to do, by the hand of God regardless of parents or their own attendance of church!!! Surely God blesses His own?
After all the promise is....
Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
There has been for the past 8 or 9 years, a group of pastors from the States that have been having bible camps in Russia. They have been going every summer and the camps have grown. My friend from Mpls who has been on these trips said to me that in one location they go to, the high school and some political leaders are in favor of these kind of camps. Good news. Terv. davey
This is good news. Authorities in Russia must also recognise this when you see religion becoming a compulsory subject at school. I wonder how those antichristians will pervert this story.
