Newsweek: 9 in 10 Americans believe in God
March 30, 2007 - A belief in God and an identification with an organized religion are widespread throughout the country, according to the latest NEWSWEEK poll. Nine in 10 (91 percent) of American adults say they believe in God and almost as many (87 percent) say they identify with a specific religion. Christians far outnumber members of any other faith in the country, with 82 percent of the poll’s respondents identifying themselves as such. Another 5 percent say they follow a non-Christian faith, such as Judaism or Islam. Nearly half (48 percent) of the public rejects the scientific theory of evolution; one-third (34 percent) of college graduates say they accept the Biblical account of creation as fact. Seventy-three percent of Evangelical Protestants say they believe that God created humans in their present form within the last 10,000 years; 39 percent of non-Evangelical Protestants and 41 percent of ...

John,

No such thing as an "atheist". How can you deny belief in something you don't belive in? Also, there are no
atheist in HELL. Once YOU get there, YOU will definitely believe!!!

Yes, Jerry from CA makes a very good point. The same verse was in my mind when I saw the article. Just because they believe means little. The devils not only believe in God's existence but even Jesus' sonship and anointing...and they yet tremble and obey his commands to leave.

"9 in 10 Americans believe in God"

Interesting.

Were I an Atheist I could take this one of two ways.

I could allow myself to be vexed by consensus against what I
personally believe, or I could puff myself up to assume that
I'm simply 'smarter' than 90 percent of Americans.

Familiar as I am with human nature, I presume the latter to
be the case for most non-religious types.

Jerry from CA pretty much covered the Believer's perspective
on such polls as these.

It really gets confusing when polls about heaven and hell are compared with those who believe in God: Many believe in God, a few believe in hell, almost all believe in heaven Um, well, if there's a heaven, there must be a hell so why such a low percentage of those who believe in hell?

9 in 10 Americans "BELIEVE" in God ?

(*91 percent*) of American adults say they "BELIEVE" in God ?

82 percent of the poll’s respondents identify themselves as "Christians" ?

A "BELIEF" in God and an identification with an organized "religion" are widespread throughout the country ?

"Six in ten (62 percent) registered voters say they would not vote for a candidate who is an atheist. Majorities of each major party — 78 percent of Repulicans and 60 percent of Democrats — rule out such an option. Just under half (45 percent) of registered independents would not vote for an atheist."

Questions:
An athiest (one who sets themselves AGAINST GOD'S TRUTH) - Like Ms. Clinton AND many others ?

Just What Does It Mean To TRULY "BELIEVE" ?

Just What Does It Mean To Be A TRUE "CHRISTIAN" ?

Just What Is The Difference Between "ReLiGiOn" And TRUE "CHRISTIANITY" ?

Acknowledging The Statistics Listed Heretofore -- As "We" Survey The Moral Social Landscape Of America -- Just What Can "We" HONESTLY CONCLUDE ?

"We" Have A Problem Between What Is Being PROFESSED And That Which TRULY IS
