While Christianity's explosive growth has swept through much of the Southern Hemisphere – particularly across Africa – another dramatic story has unfolded in Asia. Some have dubbed it the "Korean miracle."
About one-third of South Koreans are now Christian. Seoul, the capital, boasts 10 of the 11 largest Christian congregations in the world. And South Korea sends more missionaries abroad to spread the word than any other country except the United States.
Christianity has grown from a few hundred adherents in the late 19th century to "about 9 million Protestants and 3 to 4 million Catholics in South Korea today," says the Rev. Samuel Moffett, professor emeritus at Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey....
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. Romans 10:9,10,11
Matt, I'd study the New Testament. Learn about Jesus in the Gospels. In the book of Acts, you'll see people asking what they must do. Jesus commanded the preaching of repentance and forgiveness of sins. This can be yours too. Perhaps in time you will ask. If so, you are forgiven and released of your sin debt in the name and blood of Jesus.
The menu to the left on SermonAudio has a "Online Bible Search" If you go there and start at your namesake "Matthew" in the New Testament, and read the Bible.
Remember that the Lord's Grace and Holy Spirit has brought you to seek in the first place. So He is already at work on your heart. Your not on your own on this journey.
If you have any questions then post them here and we will try to help.
Trust in the Lord Jesus for all your needs, and pray to Him for help and growth.
God be with you in your journey.
Matthew 18:11 "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost."
John 10:9 "I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture."
Acts 2:21 "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved"
A man in the Bible asked this same question, and the answer that the apostle gave to him was "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved."
Christ said "come unto me, all ye that are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
Do not look for the answer so much on a website, but go to the Bible and learn of God's revelation to man, Christ the Son, for he alone is the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by him (Christ)
Matt If you go to top sermons.news, listen to Paul Washer and his"shocking youth message stuns hearers". You can also listen to other sermons on salvation
"Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto GOD by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them".
I don't think I'm saved. How can I put this right? Can someone point me to a good website that explains what I must do, please? I don't really know that Bible or anything. Sorry if I shouldn't ask questions here.
"Hunge" may be the operative word, and not "Word" mind you. The number of Catholic, Moonies, and other false Christian groups is nothing for actual Christians to be over-joyed about. One would want more details on just how "Christian" these groups are, if they are like the new apostolic churches, they are not Christian at all.
This is the sad story of a Welsh missionary "Robert Thomas" who reached Korea in 1865, only to be killed distributing the Bible. His life may have been short but God used this mission to establish a church.
Quote::: "As the sailors fled from the boat, the Koreans killed them. Robert had to flee with the rest. True to his mission, he leaped from the boat carrying a Bible. "Jesus, Jesus!" he cried in Korean to the attackers, offering them the Bible. His head was whacked off with a stroke of a machete according to one account, but others think he pleaded for his life and was beaten to death."
"But God worked in the heart of the man who killed Robert. Convinced by Robert's beaming face that he had killed a good man, he kept one of the Bibles, wallpapering his house with it. People came from far and near to read its words. A church grew. A nephew of Robert's killer became a pastor."
