Churches told to put up No Smoking signs
Health chiefs are spending thousands of pounds ordering churches to put up signs banning smoking.

The decision has left religious leaders bemused because, they say, no one smokes in places of worship anyway.

A smoking ban in all enclosed public places comes into effect in England in July and in Wales from April but Church figures assumed that although they would be covered by the legislation there would be no need for signs.

Wasn't it the Anglican Church that was going into pubs to recruit laity? Hey with all the new members they'll get from that, they will need signs in churches saying no smoking.

No, for actual Christian churches these signs should not be necessary.

The bureaucrats are only doing what churches have taught for decades. Losing the cigs & booze is the height of sanctification, if I understand a Fundy radio drama correctly.

"Health chiefs are spending thousands of pounds ordering churches to put up signs banning smoking."

These "Health Chiefs" are obviously the people who will know whether ignorance really is bliss.

The public sector bureaucrat demonstrating their pedantic and pedestrian penchant for verbosity as usual.
