NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 02/27/07 -- If you believe that we evolved from apes, that Genesis is great poetry, and that the Universe is billions of years old, can you still enjoy reading the Bible?
Bronx school teacher and book artist Ruth Rimm thinks she has an answer. Her latest book series, the "Lost Spiritual World," is a lavishly illustrated, "postmodern" edition of the Bible for skeptics, seekers, and people of different faiths.
"There may be a profound message behind the miracle stories, but the big bang and evolution implore us not to read things literally," Rimm says. "Most Americans would rather discover the spiritual truths behind the religious metaphors, especially given how fundamentalism is impacting public life with a narrow view of religion."...
One of my personal favorite evolutionary holes is the eyebrow mite. These creatures live in our eyebrows and clean/live off of the debris that collect there. This and many other forms of symbiosis is never addressed in evolution. We are to believe that creatures, whose only means of and use for existence, involve human beings, evolved from the same single celled organism that we did. Just on face value, is that not stupid? Is that not illogical?
Leaving my evolution rant behind let me focus on Christianity. I stated earlier that we have no better claim on the origin of life issue than any other group, but I'm still a Christian. Why? Because, all denominatinal differences aside we have one thing that the rest lack, and that is prophesy. Read the Old Testament, especially something like Isaiah 53,*in a non-tainted version of the Bible* to someone with even the most elementary knowledge of Jesus, and ask them who the passage is about. Then tell them that it was written hundreds of years before Christ was born. What Christ did and how he reacted while on the cross is historic record. If this prophesy came true, and it did, then what else in the Bible is true?
All supposed origins of life on Earth have one thing in common; that is at some point they rely on the faith of the believer. We Christians can not with absolute scientific reliability make any better claim to knowing the origins of life than the evolutionists, atheists, Buhuddists, or even weirdos like Tom Cruise. No matter how many reputable scientists are on our side: creationists, "gap" theorists, proponents of Intelligent design,or take your "Christian friendly" pick, the other side will always come up with 'experts' to rebuff us. In essence no matter which origin of life theory one subscribes to, at some point it all boils down to faith.
Evolution can present adaptation/breeding as 'proof' of their stance, but the larger issues such as complete fossil records, The Big Bang, and simply something appearing from nothing can and never will be proven. Evolution theory is mislabed and should rightly be called Evolution Hypothesis, because there is no way to test what allegedly happedned billions of years ago. It's guess work, it's conjecture, it takes faith to believe it, and yet our schools teach it as fact. Yet, few realize they are being endoctrined in to a state approved faith.Think about that when you send Jr. off to the bus tommorow.
If you follow the links you can watch the ad. My "favorite" part was when he said something like "wouldn't it be great if we could be spiritual without the doctrine?" I'm butchering it, but I can't bring myself to go back and watch it again! View at your own risk.
My edition doesn't read like this new edition. I think I'll stick with the old edition. Some traditions are worth keeping, even if the world hates them. Besides, such hatred for believers is predicted by the Apostles and Prophets--hatred toward believers and the holy scriptures.
The amazing thing is that this new revised bible just materialised over time, thought possibly to come from a very old comic book that was left laying about by a caveperson.
Bronx school teacher and book artist "Ruth Rimm thinks she has an answer. Idiots like this really need to be straightened out. Christians, especially pastors, need to be sure that people, not just church people, hear the truth about nonsense like this. Of course, the Bible predicted this kind of trash, so it shouldn't surprise us.
"Most Americans would rather discover the spiritual truths behind the religious metaphors, especially given how fundamentalism is impacting public life with a narrow view of religion." ...
Ooohh You naughty fundamentalists why are you narrowing the view of religion as this "Expert" states?
Remember to "widen" your religion, that it all started with a vacuum then a loud bang, and out of that the complex nature of eg: your neurological system just appeared. Good Doctrine - yeah???
