BRUSSELS, Belgium — An animal lover was mauled to death by cheetahs after entering their cage at a zoo in northern Belgium, authorities and zoo officials said Monday.
Karen Aerts, 37, of Antwerp, was found dead in the cage, Olmense Zoo spokesman Jan Libot said. Police said they ruled out any foul play.
Authorities believe Aerts, a regular visitor to the zoo, hid in the park late Sunday until it closed and managed to find the keys to the cheetah cage.
"Karen loved animals. Unfortunately the cheetahs betrayed her trust," Libot said....
Animals become much more dangerous to humans after they've killed one or taken food from one.
That's why gators, bears, cats, etc etc are hunted until destroyed after they kill people.
So when "animal lovers" feed wild animals, or become food for wild animals, the animals then view humans as a food source and must be destroyed.
I believe that's probably why the zoo is now a more dangerous place for people, and this poor woman who loved this cat probably signed its death warrant.
I'm not a real extreme person, but I do take idolatry to extremes. I believe politics, sports, animal worship, book reading, TV, the internet and a whole host of other things qualify as idolatry in our Western culture.
What was once probably a healthy hobby may have become an obsession and perhaps idolatry, due to the lack of the one most important thing in this woman's life.
Of course she didn't deserve this at all. I don't mean that. I'm very sorry for her and her family.
I've never understood how people can be "animal lovers", yet totally disrespect them and their potential! Also, you know those crazy cat/dog people, who have like 10 dogs in an apartment? Sorry, you are NOT an animal lover, you are a selfish lonely person. Same with caged birds, I could go on...
Is it me...or are the late Ms. Aerts and the currently living Jan Libot both idiots? Cheetahs are wild animals...they were made to kill things like another animals...and apparently Ms Aerts. So exactly how does a Cheetah betray ones trust? Low music, a wad of cash, and a 'Come-hither' glance?
"Animal rights group GAIA called for the immediate closure of the zoo, located 55 miles northeast of Brussels, saying it was unsafe for both visitors and the cats."
A telling acronym, followed by a stupid response. Of course it's unsafe if you get in the cage with a wild animal. How does that make the zoo unsafe?
It should be noted that Isiah 65:25 has not come to pass! "25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox; and dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith Jehovah"
But I must admit one thought that comes to mind is, if she did not appreciate that the cheetah is a dangerous wild animal she learned the very hardest of ways.
