Staff at the Jarvis Street courthouse were unwilling to comment on camera, but told CTV's Janice Golding they are disheartened.
A Toronto judge has ordered a Christmas tree out of a downtown provincial courthouse lobby, saying it's not an appropriate symbol to non-Christians.
The move by Justice Marion Cohen has upset staff, some of whom call the decision stupid and insulting.
Cohen says she understands the small tree has stood in the lobby at 311 Jarvis St. for years during the Christmas season, but in a letter to employees says non-Christians are "confronted" with the artificial decoration, which makes them feel "they are not part of this institution.''...
Good Day to you both, I guess I may have not made it very clear. We are sons and daughters of Christ. It is just that the word Christian comes with a long list of expectations(that is what I was implying) (this is not the issue anyway) lets stay focused and stop critising line for line what each other says. This is NOT a matter of my personal opinion.
The Lord leads us all in different directions at different times.
Again, I ask, how can a believer and a non-believer celebrate anything together and still be celebrating Jesus Christ?
As well, I will listen to HIS word only, I DO NOT HAVE AN OPINION.
John 4:23-24 -(Worship in spirit and truth) II Corinthians 6:14- "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common?" Matthew 4:4-"Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God." II Cor. 4:4- (VERY IMPORTANT) Luke 12:32 (little flock) Rom. 8:7 (mans sinful nature) When all of the interconnected traditions, filled with the symbolism of worshipping an ancient pagan, humanly devised god, are taught, this is not worshipping the true Creator Matthew 7:16 & 20 - (by their fruits) Finally Matthew 7:24 I do not have my own opinion!I love, fearand obeyJesusChrist
Theresa, you're wrong, that's all. Very simple. "And they were first called Christians at Antioch." So says the Apostle. Did they get upset with your attitude and say "that's man-made"? No. You obviously know little or nothing about the whole deal...or of course you are simply stating your opinions which all can be rebutted nicely, but I find it futile and a waste of time to go to great lengths to attempt to put reason in the heads of those who are so illogical as to attempt to "evangelize" the Christmas celebraters. Enjoy your self-righteousness if you please, but don't expect me to do the same.
A comment to all.....whether the tree is Christian based or not, the word Christian itself is manmade and has a full list of expectations to the world.
So, with that in mind I'd like to remind everyone to (Listen to your Father)
When our Father says: "Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samiritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a timeis coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worsipers must workship in spirit and in truth." (John 4:21-24)
With the Lord's 'truth' in our face...
How can a Christian celebrate xmas in the same appearance as a non-believer and still think they are worshipping our Jesus Christ of the truth?
Decorated trees Jolly Fellow Santa Claus (Satan Claws) Debt Gifts to each other (not Christ) Did the heavenly angels celebrate the birth of our Saviour by collecting a tree from the earth and decorating it, then give presents to each other and invite a jolly fat red fellow? Did the wise men give presents to each other? You cannot mix lies and truth with Jesus or God!
Someone should advise "Cohen" (how did I know before I even got past the headline where this was coming from?) that a Christmas tree is not a "Christian" symbol. One more attempt by these people to rub the noses of European "host" countries into the dung of Jewish hatred for a culture they have polluted.
