The two choirs at Øksnes Church in Vesterålen in northern Norway refuse to sing as long as services are led by a female pastor.
The leaders of the choirs, with additional support, wrote to the bishop recently and explained that they would not be cooperating until a male clergyman was in place, newspaper VG reports.
The letter said that they would consider starting a competing Christian gathering as long as there was a woman in charge.
Same for me, Jim. Northern Scandinavia is still feeling the effects of past conservative revival movements in that area. Hopefully this will continue and expand south and west. This choir certainly gets my support for boycotting a female cleric.
Hmmm, might be some hope for my fellow Scandinavians yet?
Titus 1 5. For this cause I left thee in Crete, that thou mightest go on to set right what remained [unordered], and establish elders in each city, as *I* had ordered thee: 6. if any one be free from all charge [against him], husband of one wife, having believing children not accused of excess or unruly. 7 For the overseer must be free from all charge [against him] as God's steward; not headstrong, not passionate, not disorderly through wine, not a striker, not seeking gain by base means; 8 but hospitable, a lover of goodness, discreet, just, pious, temperate, 9 clinging to the faithful word according to the doctrine taught, that he may be able both to encourage with sound teaching and refute gainsayers.
Notice it is "he" that is a leader in the church! http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?currSection=sermonssource&sermonID=1060694931
