ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- Christ is missing from Christmas in this small town. The community's holiday display has a manger with shepherds, a guiding star, camels and a palm tree, but no baby Jesus, Mary or Joseph.
The parks superintendent said Jesus was left out because of concerns about the separation of church and state. But Mayor Dick Callaway said it was done for purely technical reasons: "It's not easy to put a light-up representation of a baby in a small manger scene, you know."
Really, Savedgeezer? I must have a bad Bible which talks about wise men bringing gifts to Jesus . Maybe that passage somehow got overlooked to be tossed out with the Apocrypha . Nice try, but........
OOps just been reminded, the wise men were not there at the birth of Jesus. No one gave him presents at his birth. So the idea of giving presents to celebrate his birth is not scriptural.
Albert, I hope this helps. There is no one way, scripturally, that believers should celebrate the birth of Jesus. His birth brought us hope, joy, and eternal salvation. Let each man honor the birth in his own way, from his heart doing it in rembrance of Him. Not judging between a right way and a wrong way. Rom 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
If somebody wants to annually commemorate the birth of Christ, they are totally free to do so...and so I do it. If somebody doesn't want to, fine. However, keep your yoke to yourself, else I'll be one of those stones crying out to God anyway . Better to be a stone crying out Hosanna than one of those supposed religious "experts" keeping everybody hushed-up and under "control."
You do that 24/7. The question is again. "If chriatians were to celebrate the birth of Christ, what way should they do it scripturally"?. Maybe I should put, like a christmas or easter type thing only scripturally.
But Hey Thats Why "ye must be born again" btw,why do you hide yourself, ashamed of your name
Albert What.? - You can't see this is the Christian way to celebrate the Birth of Christ. Christs coming to bring Salvation.
= Keep watch over HIS Flock = Seek the glory of God. = Spread tidings of great joy to all = Tell people about Jesus our Saviour = Share the sign of Truth Word and Cross = Sing the Praises of God. like this... 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. = Seek the Lord and bring others to seek also.
But hey. - I guess thats why you must be born again.
Albert Luke 2:8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. = Keep watch over HIS Flock.
9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. = Seek the glory of God.
10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. = Spread tidings of great joy to all.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. = Tell people about Jesus our Saviour.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. = Share the sign of Truth Word and Cross.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, = Sing the Praises of God. like this... 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. = Seek the Lord and bring others to seek also.
John Yurich: You said "All normal Protestants have the Bible as their sole authority and yet they celebrate the Birth Of Christ". No, they don't.
You said "And they do not care that the Bible does not command that the Birth Of Christ be celebrated". Yes, some do.
You need to understand, John, faith that saves is faith that obeys. Do you think your stubborn participation in blasphemous Roman Catholic tradition such as the mass is obedience to God?
Found some more Mat 2:9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. Mat 2:10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. Mat 2:11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.
Albert, you said, "The point was,we are to remember His death and resurrection.there is nothing in the scriptures to celebrate His birth." What about Luk 2:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. Luk 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Granted the world has put it's on swing on it, but we don't have to celebrate it the way they do, do we. stay blessed
No, I am not stating that you guys who do not celebrate the Birth Of Christ are not saved because celebrating the Birth Of Christ is not required for salvation. The only requirement for salvation is to become Born Again(Receive Christ as Savior).
