For Evangelicals, Supporting Israel Is ‘God’s Foreign Policy’
WASHINGTON, Nov. 13 — As Israeli bombs fell on Lebanon for a second week last July, the Rev. John Hagee of San Antonio arrived in Washington with 3,500 evangelicals for the first annual conference of his newly founded organization, Christians United For Israel.

At a dinner addressed by the Israeli ambassador, a handful of Republican senators and the chairman of the Republican Party, Mr. Hagee read greetings from President Bush and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert of Israel and dispatched the crowd with a message for their representatives in Congress. Tell them “to let Israel do their job” of destroying the Lebanese militia, Hezbollah, Mr. Hagee said.

He called the conflict “a battle between good and evil” and said support for Israel was “God’s foreign policy.” ...

The last I read, Israel is fruitless and apostate (Mark 11:12-28; the prophetic books). Jesus spoke very clearly on who the "father" of the Jewish religious leaders were. (yes, it's the Devil-John 8:44) God has broken down the wall of separation between Jew and Gentile.

To say that they're are two people of God is unbiblical and dangerous theology.

I'm going to divide this comment into two parts, which my last couple of messages were also, but went unnoticed, it appears. First, the article in effect has little or NOTHING to do with Dispensationalism. Hagee, I don't know what he is, he may be a pitchman for Christianity. I have my doubts. But because the likes of Hagee or Robertson support Israel, is like saying all Reformed Church members are Catholics because like the Pope they support preterism. In this case of course Calvinists aren't Catholics and the Pope is wrong on preterism.

No New Testament evidence that the Jews are still God's chosen people? This is certainly not the case. Again, I will refer you to the booklet,

But of course there are plenty of Bible verses that reaffirmed that God did not lie in the Old Testament.

Romans 11
24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural [branches], be graffed into their own olive tree?
25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. {blindness: or, hardness}
26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

However, as I have pointed out, one can be completely indifferent to Israel for religious reasons, but still support them vigorously for being an ally of United States as we would Canada or Great Britain. I would suggest you find the article of October 2, 2006 in Jihadwatch. You can easily locate by the word, "penny" that is part of this phrase, "Millions for defense, not one penny for tribute!"

http://www.jihadwatch.org/dhimmiwatch/archives/2006_10.php

[Who Are We, Who Are Our Enemies - The Cost of Historical Amnesia]

The article does start before that forgotten quotation from American history.

Of course, you can listen to the first 20 minutes or so of Gil Rugh's sermon,

http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?currSection=sermonssource&sermonID=12110211144

Naturally, he then says something about Israel, but even if it is thoroughly beneficial, you could sadly skip it.

Tim, does it worry you equally that Hizballah also used cluster bombs in Lebanon? And that they deliberately fired many shrapnel laden missiles into civillian areas? Or do you feel that the Israeli bombs are inherently worse?

BTW if there are so many unexploded ones it doesn't say much for the manufacturing quality.

The number of unexploded cluster "bomblets" left in southern Lebanon by Israeli forces may be three times higher than previous estimates.A million or more antipersonnel weapons may be strewn across a region one-third the size of Rhode Island. The explosive and destructive powers of these bomblets range roughly from those of a hand grenade to those of an anti-tank landmine. One type is designed to hurl projectiles that penetrate up to seven inches of steel armor. In shape and size they are similar to toy balls, candy bars, and cans of soda.Unexploded cluster bomblets continue to kill and maim innocent people, especially children, for decades. In effect, Israel has left a million small, soulless suicide bombers in south Lebanon, each awaiting its call to action.

In my opinion, some of the comments made under this heading are arrogant personal attacks on individuals, which is against Sermon Audio's policy. Christians aught not to speak in that manner. See Galatians Ch5:22-26 (Fruit of the Spirit).

Anybody who says Israel is not a secular nation knows nothing about Jews, Israel, or English/American History vis-a-vis Mideast policy, to say nothing of modern Israeli history.

and fuzzy logic--To assume God has special preference for "Eretz Yisrael" is to assume (perhaps unconsciously) that God is both a racist, as well as to assume such words as "state" mean the same thing "nation" means in the Bible as well as most of western history. "Nation" in all of history means "A people"--it does NOT mean country. The way we spaek of (for example) the "Nation of Serbia" is a linguistic result of 20th century nationalism. So Eretz Yisrael ("State of Israel") in no way signifies "the Nation of Israel" as spoken of in the Bible. Eretz Yisrael is a POLITICAL unity, NOT a nation...furthermore, read up on Israel's official state views on Christianity sometime--they're not what we might be pleased to call "accepting."

To say one is a "Jew" means nothing. Howard Stern and Carl Levin are 'Jews' but they are not Jews. They are Jews racially, but to assume someone is a 'Jew' by lineage alone is to assume RACISM in Judaism. It is to assume that being from a certain stock MAKES one a Jew. The NT teaches that Our Lord Himself did NOT agree with this view.

Galatians 3

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Colossians 3

9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

**Perhaps some people should reread the New Testament.

If you only read the Old Testament to prove that Jews are STILL SET APART and are above all others, you preach a false doctrine! You are either ignorant or a liar.

is good,
Perhaps you ought to reread the O.T. and not be to quick to treat Israel just like any other secular nation.

Even when they where in great disobedience the LORD was not pleased with those who would mistreat them and neither do I believe He will be with those who would sell them out to the Muslims for oil and a false promise of peace.

Israel should be treated like any other friendly albeit secular nation. The Israel today is comprised of those physical Jews and Gentiles who have come to know and trust the Lord Jesus Christ as the only way back to God. So the Israel of God is comprised of the spiritual children of God and no other. Anybody who preaches or teaches otherwise is an enemy of Christ, no more less than the Jews of His day who died in unbelief or faith in their own works and not the finished work of Christ.

""Some evangelical leaders say they are wary of reports that a panel including former Secretary of State James A. Baker III might recommend negotiating with Iran about the future of Iraq.""

This is one that Tony Blair has thought of too.
Quote
"London - British Prime Minister Tony Blair Monday urged Syria and Iran to play a 'more constructive role' in solving the Middle East conflict, which could also help bring peace to Iraq.

In a major foreign policy speech in London late Monday, Blair said a 'new partnership' with Iran was possible if Tehran assisted in the Middle East process, stopped its support for terrorism and fulfilled its obligations on nuclear non-proliferation.""

So I don't think a secular country should order its foreign policy according to disputed interpretations of OT prophecies! Furthermore, "if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, & are convinced of the law as transgressors" - James 2:9. You can't put this in the Dispy dustbin.

Special pleading there Jim, you're still in fallacy land.

No, I don't think a secular country should be run by Old Testament Law. I don't even think a Christian country should be run by it.

However, look at this short article about the worldly contributions of Israelis.

http://jpundit.typepad.com/jci/2005/07/israels_contrib.html

I would think even non-dispensationalists of the U.S. A. would find excellent reasons to support a fellow democracy that is such a benefit to U.S. We face a common enemy, an enemy the U.S. would have even if there were no Israel. The common demand should be stop using Middle East oil! Anyway, read our girl in Israel, Caroline Glick, about Iran.

Some Christians believe gov't legislation should be according to the Law, while others think its diplomacy should be according to the Prophets.

Yet the latter accuse the former of mixing church & state! I smell a double-standard.

No, Craig, wherein the Bible has God said that he lied to the Jews and revoked their promises? There is no place. First of all, does God have a plan for it through?

For those who want a short sermon on Dispensationalism, so you actually know what it is, go to,

http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?currSection=sermonssource&sermonID=5504173329

Still another sermon, is the problem of the world, Israel?

http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?sermonID=8406101051

Hagee is hardly a representative of any evangelical any more than Pat Robertson is. Even non-Christians except for Muslims have a reason to support Israel. We have economic, financial, and social ties to it. It is perhaps the only other country in the world that is willing to do something about Iran. I would suggest you go read the opinion column of Caroline Glick to see this point reinforced.
