Australia fury at cleric comments
Australia's most senior Muslim cleric has prompted an uproar by saying that some women are attracting sexual assault by the way they dress.

Sheikh Taj el-Din al-Hilali said women who did not wear a hijab (head dress) were like "uncovered meat".

But he has now apologised for any offence caused by his comments, The Australian newspaper reports. Leading Muslim women condemned the comments and PM John Howard said the remarks were "appalling".

One wonders if this cleric would agree if soldiers shot muslims simply because they looked dangerous.
But while there is no excuse for any man raping women in any case - and such has much to do with subjection by violence - there also is no excuse for women dressing scantily in public. While it gains attention, the kind of bait you use much determines the kind of fish you will catch.
A women's full beauty is not for the public to behold, but is only for the man who has earned that right by the life long commitment of marriage.

Alan from Chile,
If this cleric wasn't justifying rape where was his condemnation of Muslim men who where committing these rapes? This cleric seems quite silent on condemning his fellow Muslims and covering their evil wicked sin by blaming "immodest women".

Why with this kind of "logic" a gynocologist could justify rape of his patients because they exposed themselves in his examination room.

And how modestly should a women have to dress for this cleric and these "justified Muslim rapists"? How about total body bag? How about keep them locked up in their own homes with no contact with anyone outside?

The guys is right in one sence only. that women generally dress like hookers. 30 years ago you could tell who was a hooker today they all are ( I am not just talking about the world here)in the spiritual sence of it.
2 Corinthians 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Islam is of the devil. He also said after the media was after him to ask if he would stand down that he would,nt stand down till the white house was finished??Islam is a religion of hate mixed with very little truth like all religions except Christ chosen people, His Church.
It is ironic how in victoria australia that two men are up for vilification for saying what is true against Islam
, yet the court has said truth is no basiss of defence.. Calling evil good and good evil..

"Ben, But you said 'He's right' and this Muslim cleric was justify rape which interestingly enough is being committed by Muslims against non-Muslim women."

I think the cleric wasn't justyfing rape, I think he made just an observation on how women are care everyday less on what they wear(actually, they DO care on how to dress... and get men atenttion )

Like any false religion, Mohammedanism depends on external force rather then an internal transformation of the individual such as Christianity brings. It is rather obvious that Muslims do not have the internal strength to contain themselves.

This Islamic cleric is going on the pilgrimage to Mecca. The Australian authorities might be wise to block his return. I think the Howard government has already made it clear what they think of Islamofascists.

Shame on you! If someone drugged your mother or your sister where they passed out unconscience would you say the same thing? A College Girl getting herself drunk or wearing revealing clothes is NO EXCUSE for any man to exploit her let alone BLAME her that an evil and wicked man would do so.

He's right! For example, when a college girl passes out drunk at a fraternity party, she's asking to get raped.

I don't think he did apologize actually..... he hasn't changed his stance anyway. And all of the other Moslem leaders in Australia are supporting him.

It is good when their honest beliefs are made public in this way; contrasts with the PC media slant of the 'peaceful religion hijacked by extremists'.

How ironic Christians have been put on trial in Australia for vilifying Islam by reading from the Koran and exposing what it teaches and now a leading Muslim Cleric gives example of these men where right to warn against Islam.
