Wal-Mart 'Rolls Out' New $4 Drug Plan Months Earlier

(CNSNews.com) - In the state of Florida, Wal-Mart 'rolled out' its new $4 prescription drug plan Friday, months ahead of schedule. The original date was January 2007.

Wal-Mart said in a press release that the reason for the early roll out of the drug plan was due to customer demand and requests from Florida state officials.

"This program enables us to respond to the needs of our customers who have struggled far too long with the high costs of prescriptions. Part of this is about saving these customers money, but even more importantly, it's about making sure they get the medicines they need to live healthier lives," said Wal-Mart CEO Lee Scott. ...

The anti-Wal-Mart groups have to say this move is bad, although I don't think they understand the reason why. It's scary when Wal-Mart's race to the bottom involves medicine. Wal-Mart sets price targets that can only be met by slashing quality to the bone and either forcing their suppliers who make quality products to give up and leave the retail market to other brands, or slash quality to match. It's one thing when it's consumer electronics, but something different when it's medicine. Will there be a new web-based alterative where you can order more expensive, higher-quality generics?

Wal-Mart. Socialism keeps them poor, in order to insure the need for socialist leaders.
