Billy Graham preaches to stadium crowd in Baltimore
BALTIMORE The Reverend Billy Graham says he's getting too old to preach.
The 87-year-old evangelist has delivered what he said could be his last stadium sermon on the final day of his son Franklin's festival at Baltimore's Camden Yards.
The elder Graham said his wife, Ruth, an invalid, was praying for the festival from her bed in North Carolina, and said he's proud of his son's commitment to preaching the gospel.
Sad to read the immature comments towards one of the Lord's faithful servants - I guess we'll see in Heaven whose comments will end up as wood, hay and stubble, eh? Remember, O, wise ones, that is word will not return void and empty, but will accomplish all that it sets out to do!
I never said that Jesus and Billy Graham have the same attitude towards preaching. I in fact said that we should judge brother Graham for his practices.
I merely responded to an earlier post which critiqued Graham on the basis that he does not create many true converts.
There are many missionaries who preach the pure gospel for years without seeing immediate fruit. The number of converts should not be the sole indicator of a preacher's success.
And yes, I would like to read Christ's letter to the seven churches. Thank you for asking.
Way too simple, msc. It'll never fly on this site. Salvation must be dissected and reassembled to accommodate the correct ism. Faith? Where does it come from? What does believe mean? Repent? Who does that? Be baptized? Is that necessary? Why or why not? Dunked, poured or sprinkled? What does the name of Jesus mean? "every one of you"? Surely that can't mean every one of you. Or can it?
Reminds me of "depends on what the meaning of is is."
The simplicity that is in Christ frequently seems a long way off.
"Men and brethren, what shall we do? Peter said unto them REPENT, AND BE BAPTIZED EVERY ONE OF YOU IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS, AND YE SHALL RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST"(Acts 2:37,28..Caps added for emphasis on the subject at hand).
And "What must I do to be saved? BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND THOU SHALT BE SAVED"(Acts 16:31)
There you have it, John. From the Apostles themselves, when they were asked what must be done for forgiveness and salvation..repentance and faith.
M2, Big difference between the attitude of Christ towards those teaching false doctrine and the attitude and practise of today's religious celebrities. What to read Christ's letters to the seven churches in Revelation and see for yourself?
95% false conversions and only 5% saved? That sounds a lot like Jesus' ministry.
We should judge brother Graham by his practices, but it is very immature of us to judge him by the number of people who become saved through his ministry.
Judging from Franklin's youthful indiscretions, one may assume that either: A) Franklin got religion; or B) He realized that the family crusade was better than having to work for a living.
Catholics leaving Catholicism, smashing and burning their idols of the Queen of Heaven holding her infant?
Sinners becoming holy?
From what I have been learning very few, is it 5 percent, are still attending church one year after coming forward at a Billy Graham Crusade. So does this mean Dr Graham is famous for 95 percent false conversions, people who were never saved in the first place but who were just emotionally drawn to come forward? And the 5 percent came to salvation inspite of his "preaching".
How else is someone supposed to receive Christ as their Savior if they do not pray to Him and ask Him to come into their heart and cleanse them of all sins and become their Savior? That is why they have Altar Calls or as they used to be called Revival Meetings and Camp Meetings to get individuals saved by having them pray to Christ to become their Savior.
Funny everytime that I have heard Graham preach over television I have never heard Graham preach any teaching from the RCC. I have only heard Graham preach about receiving Christ as Savior and inviting individuals to come forward to pray to Christ to receive Him as their Savior. That is the preaching of the Gospel of Christ by having individuals pray to Christ to receive Him as their Savior.
I wonder what version of the sinner's prayer he used this time. The Apostles didnt' use any sinners' prayers...nor altar calls, yet today, so many people judge salvation on these unbiblical evangelistic methods.
Franklin and Billy Graham do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. Followers of Jesus Christ are commanded to mark them and avoid them.
Here is an interesting article from BaltimoreCatholic.com -
