Dialogue between Evangelicals and Mormons is being encouraged on a number of fronts.
Grace Baptist Church in Bountiful played host to a presentation and panel discussion, "Looking for Love Between Evangelical Christians & Mormons," on Friday night. The featured speaker was David Rowe, a professor and dean of spiritual life at the Salt Lake Theological Seminary, who authored and author of the book, I [heart] Mormons: A New Way to Share Christ with Latter-day Saints, released in August.
Sitting in a seminary conference room earlier this week, Rowe explained that because both religious communities "have strong convictions at the core" and are committed to evangelism, they're "set up to butt heads."
Historically, the two groups have dismissed, even offended, one another - at worst with Evangelicals viewing the LDS Church as a "cult" and Mormons seeing Evangelicals as "apostate," he said....
Sharing Christ with Mormons is a noble undertaking, however the mormons ive talked to, think they already know Jesus and are rather close minded about anything that doesnt come from the book of mormon or their False Prophet.
It is useless for Evangelical Protestants, Mainline Protestants, Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox to have dialogue with Mormons because Mormons deny the Deity of Christ, deny the Holy Trinity, think that the Holy Spirit is a fluid, think that there are a million gods, think that God was a man who became divine and think that mankind can become gods.
But it is ok for Evangelicals to have dialogue with Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox and Mainline Protestants because Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox and Mainline Protestants acknowledge the Deity of Christ and the Holy Trinity.
Amos 3:3"Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" All this ecumenical "dialog" is just so much wasted effort that could be better used to preach the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God that died that we could be saved. The whole system of mormonism is based on the con artist Joseph Smith and his correct assumption that people will believe anything if it helps them to avoid the real thing To a Christian, the Bible is the only authority. To the Mormon, the Doctrines and Covenant, the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, the Mormon leadership(especially the President and Prophet) all overrule the Bible. They claim to believe the Bible, but when you point out the glaring contradictions they get upset and nervous. For example, the Bible teaches that there is only one God, and that there will not be another. Isaiah 43:10"...before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.(11)I,even I,am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour." The mormons teach that men may become gods, and that Jesus was a product of Adam(who had become a god)and Mary, one of his wives. Christian? If you believe that, then you will have a long time(eternity)to regret it.
