The Rev. Billy Graham preaches at a service in New Orleans Sunday evening March 12
NEW ORLEANS - In his first public sermon in nine months, evangelist Billy Graham delivered his message of repentance and salvation Sunday to an overflow arena crowd in this city slowly recovering from devastation.
The 87-year-old required a walker to get to the podium but was greeted with a standing ovation and screams from the capacity crowd of 16,500 inside New Orleans Arena. Another 1,500 people watched on a large screen on a concourse at the neighboring Superdome — an evacuation center where flooding and rancid conditions reigned the week after Hurricane Katrina hit Aug. 29.
Graham told the crowd he watched television with shock as it became clear that Katrina and the broken flood system had destroyed much of the city and caused so much suffering.
JY If Graham was any sort of true christian at all,he would not send souls back to a church that tells lies about CHRIST. It is obveous that he does not believe the bible as GODS WORD,nor would he think the pope to be christian BUT AN ANTICHRIST. JY,you agree with the papish church, that is why you disobey GODS WORD "to come out of her"(rome)who mixes lies with truth,But hey one day that SAME WORD will judge you as WHAT YOU DONE WITH CHRIST(THE WORD OF GOD),and we know you don't believe that WORD.
Chris, there is a big difference between altar calls and the altars or "table" (as per Lance's statement) in High Church Protestant and Catholic Churches, which type I do see as fitting and acceptable, because what happens around them is scriptural: partaking of the Lord's Supper.
Graham is one of the greatest ministers around because Graham does not preach hatred toward any church that believes that Christ is God and believes in the Holy Trinity. And because Graham does not preach hatred toward any church that believes that Christ is God and belives in the Holy Trinity then Graham is more Christ like then that Ian Paisley character over in Ireland. Just because Graham does not tell individuals who come forward during the Crusades to receive Christ as their Savior that they have to leave the Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church or the Mainline Protestant Churches and join a Fundamentalist or Evangelical Protestant Church does not mean that Graham is not a Fundamentalist Baptist minister. If Graham preaches that Christ must be received as Savior in order to be saved then Graham is a Fundamentalist Baptist minister.
Who says and where does it state in the Bible that everybody who receives Christ as their Savior has to belong to a Fundamentalist or Evangelical Protestant Church?
All Baptist Churches and other Fundamentalist and Evangelical Protestant Churches including the Non Denominational Church that my brother is a member of have Altar Calls to get individuals to receive Christ as their Savior. Altar Calls used to be called Revival Meetings.
An alter is where you sacrifice something. The LORDS TABLE,is where you brake bread to remember HIS death, just like HE said"do this in remembrance of me". The sacrifice of rome is a sacrafice of devils(1 cor 10-20=21). And before some fool comes on and says rome does not sacrafice,go read artical 5 creed of pope pius, and council of trent
