World Council of Churches Criticised for Neglecting Gospel
The World Council of Churches has been criticised by a leading U.S. religious institute for focussing too much on social issues at the expense of spreading the Gospel.
An official at the Institute on Religion and Democracy pointed to last monthâs WCC 9th Assembly as proof that the global church body favours social issues over spreading the Gospel, reports Agape Press.
At last monthâs gathering of the 350 member denominations of the WCC, church leaders and Christians focussed criticisms toward the use of military force to fight terrorism, and united first and foremost in furthering Muslim-Christian dialogue and ecumenical relations within the worldwide Christian body....
The WCC is, and has been for some time, guilty as charged of neglecting the preaching of the Gospel for promoting "social" concerns. HOWEVER, there is a warning here for the accuser. Many of my Evangelical & Fundamentalist brethren are becoming more and more guilty of neglecting the preaching of the Gospel because they are too busy promoting "political" concerns. One wonders if the dismay mentioned is always out of reverence for the Great Commission, or out of dislike for the "social" concerns ? I repeat what I have written before and will likely write again - Christ was not the liberation theologian that the WCC likes to make Him out to have been - BUT, neither was He a card carrying member of the Republican party that many Evangelicals portray Him as.
Michael AMEN to :" they must be "Purpose Driven" instead of GOSPEL DRIVEN! ======= Speaking before the World Council of Churches 9th Assembly in Brazil, Rowan Williams warned against claiming an exclusive possession of the truth ("Pluralism, Ecumenism Stressed at WCC Assembly," Christianitytoday.com, Feb. 19).
Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury, was addressing the subject of interfaith dialogue. The apostate World Council of Churches has long resisted the proclamation of absolute truth, yet Jesus Christ said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me," and the apostle John said, "And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness" (1 John 5:19). That sounds very exclusive to me.
Another speaker at the WCC Assembly, Catholic Cardinal Walter Kasper, said there is "no rivalry or competition, but friendly collaboration" between the World Council and the Roman Catholic Church
the WCC "favours social issues " which includes pushing a pro-sodomite agenda &supporting murder of innocent babies: They HAVE no gospel to share, except a FALSE gospel.
