The parent company of a Dubai-based firm at the center of a political storm in the US over the purchase of American ports participates in the Arab boycott against Israel, The Jerusalem Post has learned.
The firm, Dubai Ports World, is seeking control over six major US ports, including those in New York, Miami, Philadelphia and Baltimore. It is entirely owned by the Government of Dubai via a holding company called the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCZC), which consists of the Dubai Port Authority, the Dubai Customs Department and the Jebel Ali Free Zone Area.
"Yes, of course the boycott is still in place and is still enforced," Muhammad Rashid a-Din, a staff member of the Dubai Customs Department's Office for the Boycott of Israel, told the Post in a telephone interview.
On at least three separate occasions last year, the Post has learned, companies were fined by the US...
An interesting sidebar here. Although it has not shown up on SermonAudio yet, an Israeli port firm has sent a letter to Hillary Clinton & Chas. Schumer of N.Y. asking them to intervene in the UAE's behalf. So even though Dubai boycotts Israel, Israel supports Dubai in order to maintain their business interests in the matter. I remember an old R & R song from the early sixties: "Money don't buy everything that's true, but what it don't buy I can't use, I want money, yea that's what I want." Should be the theme song for this bunch.
Tony, if neo-cons want to stop having the Republicans pimping for them, then they should make it very clear to their Congressmen, they will not be voting for them in the next election they run, even if they have to (shudder ) vote for a liberal Democrat!
Now this is a nightmare for the President. His financial backers and family interests lie in pleasing the United Arab Emirates, but his political base among neo-cons regarding Israel can not afford to be threatend because he is fumbling so badly right now that any loss of his political base could hurt his party in the November elections. It's no wonder politicians have to be so slick and oily. It's to slither out of revolting developments.
