Snake 'befriends' snack hamster

Aochan, the snake 'seems to enjoy' being with Gohan, the hamster

A rodent-eating snake and a hamster have developed an unusual bond at a zoo in the Japanese capital, Tokyo.

Their relationship began in October last year, when zookeepers presented the hamster to the snake as a meal.

The rat snake, however, refused to eat the rodent. The two now share a cage, and the hamster sometimes falls asleep sitting on top of his natural foe.

"I have never seen anything like it," a zookeeper at the Mutsugoro Okoku zoo told the Associated Press News agency.

Hi Gayle: Thanks for the correction in semantics. I never realized that the term "old Negro Spiritual" was a musical genre like "Gospel Music". I just thought A) The song was written by a Negro for a Negro, and B) it was old , and C) it was spiritual rather than humanist. I stand corrected and will be more careful in the future in using the term.

Tony Borrelli and Mike:

Thomas Andrew Dorsey, a black man born in 1899, was "the Father of Gospel Music". 'Peace In The Valley' is not an "old Negro spiritual" but a modern Gospel song written in 1937 for Mahalia Jackson.

Thomas "Tommy" Francis Dorsey, a white man born in 1905, was
"the Sentimental Gentleman of Swing" jazz trombonist and Big Band-leader.

Quite right RV! If you can't eat them, they're the next best thing to an electric blanket.

One should remember Isaiah chapter 12, also.

Now if they can just get the snake to eat
the same food the mouse eats, then they'd
REALLY be on to something! Isaiah 11:7

Where the bear will be gentle
And the wolf will be tame
And the lion will lay down next to the lamb.
And the beast of the wild will be led by a child
And I'll be changed from this creature that I am
There will be peace in the valley for me some day
There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray
There'll be no sadness, no sorrow, oh my Lordy no misery I'll see
There will be peace in the valley for me, oh yes.

Old Negro Spiritual
Written by Thomas Dorsey
Upon his salvation.

Amen ?
