Hi Gayle: Thanks for the correction in semantics. I never realized that the term "old Negro Spiritual" was a musical genre like "Gospel Music". I just thought A) The song was written by a Negro for a Negro, and B) it was old , and C) it was spiritual rather than humanist. I stand corrected and will be more careful in the future in using the term.
Where the bear will be gentle And the wolf will be tame And the lion will lay down next to the lamb. And the beast of the wild will be led by a child And I'll be changed from this creature that I am There will be peace in the valley for me some day There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray There'll be no sadness, no sorrow, oh my Lordy no misery I'll see There will be peace in the valley for me, oh yes.
Old Negro Spiritual Written by Thomas Dorsey Upon his salvation.
