Survey: Half of Americans changed by spiritual experience
Half of Americans have had a spiritual transformation experience, and 35 percent of those are not born-again Christians, according to newly released research from the University of Chicago.
Most "changers" were part of a religious community when they had the experience and reported an increased commitment to God that has lasted for many years, the study found. Many transformations occurred early in life and at a turbulent time - during an illness or after an accident or a relationship breakup.
Tom W. Smith, the study's author, was surprised by the reported endurance of the behavioral changes, which also included becoming more compassionate and quitting bad habits....
I cant help but think that the reasons I just gave are part of the reasons why there are so many Christians in this country who really thought they were genuine christains but were actually just still borns.
My mother who had just become a Christian and 2 of my sister in laws were sitting at the table.
My mother told both of them that they should try God. They both looked at one another kind of confused and turned back to her asking what she meant by that? She said if you believe in Jesus your life would be perfect; all your problems will come to end. He fixes everything all you have to do is ask him into your heart.
Well she gave it her best.
But saved from what is one of the many questions that could have been asked.
If I jump into the water and pull some person to shore that would be a wonderful thing. But what if that person wasnât actually drowning?
Many times through clumsy witnessing we are giving them a cure before they actually know they have a disease.
This is why the 10 commandments is a needed tool to make them realize they have a disease that needs a cure.
By going through just a few of the commandments, they will soon realize that they do in fact have a disease. This is when we can present them with the ultimate infinite curer Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 7:10 10 For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.

Perhaps lucky is the person that can become a Christian without a kick in the pants by God. However, great is the misfortune of a person who does not come to Christ even if it does take a personal upheaval in his life to bring him to saving grace of Him.
