Oct. 8, 2005 — It doesn't look like a church. It's a huge party — a festival — for God. And you've probably never heard of the headliner: Luis Palau.
Palau, 70, has been preaching since he was a 12-year-old in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
But for the past six years, he's been putting on these massive festivals with Christian rock bands, a kids' play land and skateboards — all suggestions from his adult sons.
"I thought, what's skateboarding? I mean, I'm a grandpa, what do I do know?" said Palau. "And then, suddenly, the crowds were there and they began to double, then triple, now 10 times what we used to have before."

The real problem today is the popular, superficial appetite for celebrity ministers & evangelists, regardless of their theology. It's showbiz, vaudeville, the manipulative "big event" that people crave. Just like a rock concert, overwhelming emotions, afterwards followed by - what? A canned prayer, or true regeneration & sanctification? Maybe God is using them more than I can tell; I truly hope so.
Who in this country doesn't have a Bible by now? We're not living in modern China or the 1st or 15th centuries, in which the printed Word was scarce. But who today reads it and furthermore, heeds it? Water everywhere, yet few truly drink, IMHO.
I have known Mr. Palau for nearly thirty years and have too high a regard for him to call him the "next anything". He has always tried to be a faithful servant of God. While I am troubled by the larger part of evangelicalism, I would pray that we would not have another Billy Graham or Robert Schuller or Chuck Swindoll--we need a prophetic voice to cry in the wildnerness of America which includes that distortion of evangelicalism as well as the evils of secular America. I have been in thousands of church meetings and have yet to hear a jeremiad in any crowd over several hundred.
I agree with Jim. Good points. There will be many in the last days claiming to be men of God. Yet by their fruits you'll know them. Graham and Palau use evangelism techniques unknown to the Apostolic church and on top of that they (at least Mr. Graham) send converts to apostate and impure churches who do not take the Bible alone as the inspired and inerrant word of God.

doesn't matter whether Mr. Palau is a "christian" or not. what matters is whether he adheres to the one world religion like mr. graham, mr. robertson, mr. packer, and pretty much all other super rich christians.

Of course Graham is a Christian because he is a Baptist minister and Graham has been preaching in Crusades for years that the way to get saved is to receive Christ as Savior and Graham has for years in his Crusades been having Altar Calls where individuals come forward to receive Christ as their Savior. Palau is also a Christian and has been doing for years the same thing that Graham has been doing.
One can ask, is Billy Graham, been really called, and is he a Christian? If Luis Palau is a disciple of Billy Graham, one day as to think if he is a Christian?

"You have to just draw the people, and I feel music, sports, actors … Americans go for that," Palau said.
But Jesus says "Nobody comes to me unless the Father draws..." "You have not chosen me..I have chosen you." Decision evangelism is not the way to draw people and make disciples...simply preach the word of the Gospel that anyone who repents and believes shall receive their sins forgiven or else goes to hell, and leave the rest up to God. That's all the Apostles did--if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me.

It seems so sad that 99% of these Christians who thrive on this type of celebrity fervor are Arminians and loosing their understanding of the true and faithful worship of God.
They then take it from the fields, and bring the same goofy hollywood games into their Sabbath worship.
And look who are the leaders...the ministers are pushing this agenda. The change will take place with good old fashion puritan daily family worship.
