The push for EU-wide data storage came after the Madrid bomb attacks last year, and intensified after the London bomb attacks in July, when Britain took over the rotating EU presidency.

The Commission proposes storing data related to mobile and fixed telephone traffic for a year, to allow the police to trace the time, place, and numbers used.

Internet data such as e-mails would be kept for six months. ...

33K., I didn't know my messages were that disorganized! ;-) Russell does have a point. This type of surveillance has been used in Communist countries and I have no doubt it will be used in Islamic countries as they get a little more sophisticated.

I have mentioned the www.crosswire.com Bible project before. They actually warned people about downloading Bible modules from their site if they live in a country hostile to Christianity.

Should we read all of the book or are there 5 chapters we should leave out as non-authentic Jewish myth?

Every Christian should read the book "1984" by George Orwell, in order to understand why governments institute such measures; it has nothing whatsoever to do with combatting "terrorism".

No Christian should applaud such a measure, for the ultimate goal of such monitoring and of "hate crime" legislation is to quash proclamation of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God.
