Christianity and wrestling have more in common than you may think, says Winnipeg Christian wrestling promoter Louis Hendrickson.
Following a traditional church service yesterday at St. Philip's Anglican Church with hymns and prayers led by priest Brian Flowers, members of the mostly-elderly congregation were treated to a wrestling match in the basement.
"My goal is to entertain them with the wrestling show while sending them the message that God and Jesus is important," said Hendrickson, the born-again Christian wrestling promoter known to local rasslin' fans as Lawrence Fozzworth III.
Others in the church were equally enthusiastic about the wrestling mini-card, held in the hundred-year-old church basement.

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." (Ephesians 6:12)
First of all I think that Hollywood,Sports and most music is energized by pride. It's not that I am saying that Sports is evil or something. It is how we play the game. But a drive to be the best and to crave admiration can be dangerous. The thing that keeps Hollywood afloat is obvious. The awe and admiration of the viewers. The actors love the appreciation they receive. They love being in the spotlight. Does this contradict God's message? Do we remember in Ezekiel where the evil one went from servant to the spotlight. He wanted to be the main attraction. Maybe these people in Winnipeg will have good results. I'm sure they have good intentions. But I have never read in the Bible where the apostles or prophets organized sporting events to bring people to God. They used this. The first word starts with H. The second starts with S. It is not hard to see where all this trendy Christianity is coming from.
