Colorado Springs - About 800 gay-rights advocates marched at the Focus on the Family campus Sunday to show their contempt for James Dobson's views on homosexuality.
The Rev. Mel White, who heads the interfaith movement Soulforce, called the gathering an intervention for Dobson and his organization. The group's members asked to meet with Dobson today.
"James Dobson was a wonderful family counselor," White told a crowd. "Now he is a danger to himself and the nation. ... We love him anyway."
White said the rally was not intended to threaten or scare Dobson but to "set (Dobson) free from the lies that have him blinded."
Steve II, I know that the enemy of our enemy is often looked upon as our friend. This is true form any evangelicals when they think of Eastern Orthodox. Unfortunately, while I don't think Christians have to be actively hostile to any group, that is even fairly non-Christian, we don't have to be good buddies to the enemies of our enemies either. Dobson does fall into this category. The you can see the booklet below, in fact many Evangelicals are very eager to jump into bed with the Catholic Church for political reasons. :-(
Let us not forget that no matter what you called marriage they would attack that as well. They are not really fighting to gain rights at all but only trying to force people to accept the lifestyle as being a normal one. Which might I add will never happen.
But I would like to also point out as well that they attacked Dr. Dobson calling him a threat to himself and the nation. This is the tactic of the fringe groups now days. If you don't support their idea then your a evil person a terrorist against the love of humanity. This just exposes how warped these peoples moral compass is. Even worse since they took homosexuality off of the DDSM they now are not getting as much help as they could.
I think everyone should contact those misguided people at Soulforce and straighten them out about such absurd and lame allegations.
To be effective, a ban all homosexual marriages, has to include some type of ban on economic equality of strange sexual unions with actual marriages. I am not sure how that can be done, but the attempt has to be made.
Being so psychologically orientated, I am surprised that Dobson just doesn't consider homosexuality a psychological dysfunction?
This that least keeps these demonstrations in the support of sin away from Christian organizations, for awhile.
Wow. What was not too long ago considered a major "psychological dysfuncion" (according to one of my freshman college health texts). is today a major political/social movement.
I'm not old enough to remember when homosexuality was "downgraded" from being a sin to being merely a "psychological dysfunction", but it was just such an intermediate step that made "acceptance" of homosexuality by our society that much easier.
"For many walk [as at the Focus on the Family campus], ...whose God is their belly [they serve their appetites], and whose glory [unless and until they repent and savingly believe] is in their shame [their homosexuality]... (Philippians 3:18-19)
