SACRAMENTO -- After several months' discussion, North Coast Assemblywoman Patty Berg has introduced a bill to legalize physician-assisted suicide.
Berg, D-Eureka, and Assemblyman Lloyd Levine, D-Van Nuys, introduced Assembly Bill 654, the "California Compassionate Choices Act," on Thursday. The bill is modeled after Oregon's Death with Dignity Act.
It would allow terminally ill patients to ask their physicians for life-ending medications.
