Billy Graham to lead post-inaugural prayer
WASHINGTON -- Evangelist Billy Graham will lead the opening prayer at a service Friday honoring the second inauguration of President Bush.

"I have known the Bush family for many years, and have seen how their faith in God has sustained them through some very trying times," Graham said in a statement. "I pray for them daily, and it is a great honor to pray publicly for our president, his family, and our nation as he begins his second term."

The service is scheduled for Friday morning at the National Cathedral.

Bush credits Graham with inspiring him to reaffirm his faith at age 40, give up drinking and become more self-disciplined. ...

D.N., this reminds me if Billy Graham is such a good teacher of President Bush on Christianity, did Billy rebuked Bush on putting the Koran on an equal status with the Bible? A public correction could even had been in order, if it was done respectfully.

Remember that old saying, "Actions speak louder than words."? It is not enough to be able to speak every verse and not abide by them.

One has more responsibility and is accountable in keeping what is known from the Word. The clear way to abide by the Word is through a literal, grammatical, historical way, being right in the eyes of the Lord. "Faith without works is dead." James2:2 --

John, President Bush should have chastised for being the moral inferior in letting the Pope off for the immoral behavior of the Catholic magisterium in United States. Of course not supporting natural marriage for priests and nuns is also evil. The President should have sent a Secretary of State and not dirty his hands with a meeting with the Pope.

John, your fooling yourself. The pope asks for mary's leading as well, and the Jesus of the Catholic church is insufficient to save anyone. Graham, has fallen into the eccumenical hole. The devil believes in all the things you mentioned as well, but he's not saved either.

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Susan: What is wrong with Bush shaking hands with the Pope and being friendly with the Pope? And what is wrong with Bush having Graham as a spiritual advisor? I am sure that the Pope has received Jesus as personal savior because the Pope makes references to asking the Lord Jesus to guide him. There is nothing wrong with Graham. Graham is a better Baptist minister than most Baptist ministers are because Graham does not have a hatred for the Catholic and Orthodox Churches. Graham recognizes that the Catholic and Orthodox Churches are True Christian Churches because they adhere to the historic Christian doctrines of belief that the Bible is the Word of God, belief in the Holy Trinity, belief in the Deity of Christ, belief in the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Christ and belief that Christ is the way of salvation.

Hey Lance,
Christ is a Saviour for HIS elect people.
Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

I don't like the "Personal" Saviour thing either. If God has saved you then you are elect, and in union with Christ. The "Personal" part makes salvation seem like salvation is the work of man's perogative, but as Jonah tells us, "Salvation is of the LORD" Jonah 2:9

Referring specifically to DJfan88's posting -- I've never understood the difference between Jesus as "saviour" and Jesus as "personal saviour".

-Let us pray that Pres. Bush receives some true Holy Spirit-delivered discernment this year, before it's too late. He calls Islam a religion of peace, shakes hands with the pope every chance he gets, and allows BG to be involved with his "spiritual affairs". Not real good discernment for a born-again Christian. It's got to make you wonder about his true spiritual condition. He has my respect and my prayers - no doubt he needs them. He needs all the prayers from all of us he can get.

What matters most is the clear teaching of the Word of God being the focal point in Graham's life and should be interpreted in a literal, grammatical, historical way. Ecumenicalism and taking people by their own words is not the way to grasp God's Word. Please pray that Graham will "stand fast in the liberty, wherewith Christ hath made us free." (Gal. 5:1)

Graham lost that liberty by conforming to others and accepting others, making friends, but friendship with Priests, Bishops, Popes... is not the goal, but to win souls. He is now trying to make people happy instead of convicted. Hell is a real literal place, not a place to purge sins and be prayed out of.

Hbr 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Hell is the final place for those who do not know Christ as personal Savior.
Pray
Prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

The minister to the masters -- we should all pray for Billy Graham to get on the right, narrow road to salvation.
