The Methodist Church in Britain has launched a bold new poster campaign carrying the stark message ‘The Body of Christ has AIDS’.
The news comes on World AIDS day which has seen a number of activities and initiatives from churches and Christian groups.
Susan Johnson Mission Education Co-ordinator for the Methodist church in the UK explained the thinking behind the new campaign: “Many people living with HIV are afraid to admit their illness to other people because they fear rejection. But we have a gospel that teaches us to love and accept all people. Where one person suffers we all suffer. Methodists around the country are looking at their theology, and at what it means to be part of the Body of Christ when people are suffering.â€...
It is sad to see the long arm of the UMC in action. There are many conservative UMC in the US that don't even know that their denomonation is involved with the WCC, liberalism, and homosexuality. We must carry the news of judgment like Jeremiah and Isaiah, and urge repentance and turning from the UMC. I preach in United Methodist churches once in a while, and I do not hesitate to exhort them to turn from liberalistic sin.
Quite right, Chris. A Christian church is supposed to accept a repentant sinner, who truly forsakes his past life. I have serious doubts that the Methodist church here or in the UK, works on this principle.
No my dear Methos, it is your denomination that has AIDS - a humanly aquired condition of very poor spiritual health leading to death. The true bride of Christ is pure and without even spot or wrinkle.
