Office Chaplains Provide Spirituality at Work
ATLANTA — Chicken plants and church may seem worlds apart but one pastor says there's no better place to minister to his flock.

"I love the interaction of making a product, selling it, servicing a customer, and then being able to tie that in with general care and concern for people," said Mitch Miles of Marketplace Chaplains USA (search), a Dallas-based company that provides more than 1,000 chaplains to businesses nationwide.

Robin Burruss, president of Tip Top Poultry, said his employees are "better off with this practice, which makes our company better off. But at the end of the day, we just view it as a bigger role that we have than just running the plants."

Major corporations like Coca-Cola Co. (KO) and United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS) provide spaces for employees to hold prayer or Bible study meetings during their breaks. ...

I remember my army service well enough, to know that the great majority of army chaplains were much more loyal to the army than to God. There is usually a conflict of interest. I'm not talking about disloyalty to the country that has been shown by Islamic chaplains. I never considered chaplains of any use. But those that have to have ceremonies to feel Christian, probably would continue to demand the government to continue having chaplains.

If the chaplain wasn't paid a salary but by the tithe, I would be less concerned. However, the tendency is, he who pays the bills, makes the rules, and a truly evangelical chaplain will probably get in trouble, given how divisive the Gospel is, esp. these days.

..it would be great if workplaces had truly Chaplains who have been born of God, and understand the gospel, but i reckon that there are multitudes of workplaces where there is but one true believer, whom are standing firm for the gospel, under great difficulty, and feeling so useless and worthless, who will hear those blessed words, "well done thou good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of the Lord".

That is not to say that the Lord does not place Godly Chaplains where He wants them.

May He bless all whom are serving Him in Chaplaincy faithfully, and bringing fruit unto Him, that they may know that their labours are not in vain in the Lord, and of course also,, all the sheep, whom serve Him in secular work (as well as Christian work),and trying their very best to honour the Lord under difficult circumstances.

My employer once had an opening for a Pacific island chaplaincy. Conflicting loyalties?
