Shift of white-collar jobs overseas has workers worried about job security

NEW YORK (AP) - Mike Zimmerman has left college to start a web design business with some friends in Philadelphia. He's concerned, though, that the very technology he intends to make a living from also means someone else, far away, can do the same job.
"As far as this stuff is concerned it can be done from anywhere," he said. "You really can't stop it. People are going to go where the cheapest prices are and the best quality of work." With all the talk of white-collar jobs moving overseas, it's no wonder that Americans, particularly those just entering the workforce, are wondering about the safety of their jobs and reassessing career and educational choices.
This situation, I believe, has to do with the differences in government in each country. Most countries run a rope around the necks of their citizens. These citizens of the tyrannic (puppet) governments are needing a job, and are willing to be trained to make money for food. The employer hires the person for under $5 an hour. In America, it is illegal for an employer to employ anyone under the state's minimum wage. So, it would make sense for jobs to go overseas for cheaper labor. Regulations, such as pollution control are more strict in the U.S. than places like China, India, etc.. Property and income taxes too. Did I mention safety regulations are also quite strict in U.S. These are good things for the most part in the U.S., but overseas, the governments do not have strict procedures like here. Some countries do not have any requirements for the employer. One more reason why jobs move overseas: people overseas are not asking about health benefits, medicare, any 401k plan, vacation, etc.
re the last quote of the news item, you can say that again !...
Oh well, mr.Zimmerman, if it does not work out for you, just trawl the situations vacant columns for cleaners... hard work, rubbish (excuse the pun) wages, unsociable hours, but at least you will be employed !
The shift of white-collar jobs to overseas can be blamed on Bush. Bush is one of the worst Presidents this country has ever had. Bush is not for the middle class. He is only for the wealthy. Bush did not chastise Cheney for using foul language. That says that Bush must have thought that there was nothing wrong with Cheney using foul language.
