There is a new internet scam making the rounds this week.
It was only in play for less than a day, but it may have been clever enough to fool people into providing vital information to the bad guys.
The e-mail ostensibly notified recipients that someone had used their credit card to buy merchandise at Best Buy. Following the link provided to stop the purchase took users to a site that looked almost exactly like a real Best Buy Fraud Department web page. But users were then asked to provide credit card and social security numbers.
The web site, and e-mail turned out to be a scam, a fact that was obvious upon closer scrutiny.
