Dr. Bob Jones III of Bob Jones University will be appearing on CNN's Larry King Live on Friday, December 20 (9 p.m. EST) for an hour-long interview that will range across a variety of subjects yet to be determined.
Dr. Jones sees this as an opportunity to present the Gospel, and his desire is for the Lord's name to be honored. He also sees this as an entering into spiritual warfare--an arena of spiritual combat fraught with human impossibilities--which can be successfully waged only with the Lord's divine intervention and enablement. He needs you to stand with him in prayer.
They will be taking calls during the program. He would appreciate it if anyone from our extended University family who is interested would try to call in with whatever perspective he or she may have....
I hope Bob remembers what happened to R. C. Sproul in a TV interview. He was asked questions that were not on the list he was given and cut off from answering the mistakes made by others or not even asked. He was given a brief time to summarise while his ungodly opponent was given as much as he liked to finish up unanswered. Then the tape was edited to make it look like he supported the errors proposed by his opponent. This caused him to start Ligoneer Ministries to produce their own videos and TV programs. Although God still used this encounter for good, many people were deceived at the time. I would encourage all Christians to pray for BJ3. They did for RC as well and he still had all these problems. If you think the media has changed since then, then just ask Ken Ham from answersingenesis how well the media report the things he says. He has been the subject of editing so badly that he will only give interviews if they are live or unedited. This is Satan's playground and he makes the rules. I don't think Jesus needed TV to get His message out there and I would advise against using anything with pictures or video to preach or teach. This can lead to worship of the man or image show. Don't forget that we may be encouraging people to watch Larry King, other TV charletons or the following programs and causing some brothers to stumble. God's word says "faith cometh by hearing" (sound familiar?) "13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."(Romans 10)
