WASHINGTON, Nov. 30 — President Bush finds himself in a rare disagreement with conservatives in his party over his efforts to portray Islam as a peaceful religion that is not responsible for anti-American terrorism.
In a score of speeches since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, the president has called for tolerance of Muslims, describing Islam as “a faith based upon peace and love and compassion” and a religion committed to “morality and learning and tolerance.”
But a large number of foreign policy hawks — some of them with advisory roles in the Bush administration — have joined religious conservatives in taking issue with Bush’s characterizations. While most of them understand the political rationale for Bush’s statements — there’s no benefit in antagonizing Muslim allies such as Pakistan and Indonesia — they say the claim is dishonest and destined to fail.
I support President Bush on most issues, but when he makes statements to the effect that islam is a peaceful religion is a slap in the face to our God. Bush professes to be a Christian. As Christians we need to stand for what the Word of God says, and not waver from it,but I guess he feels he needs to pacify all beliefs to advance his political agenda...The koran is nothing but hate against Christians...If you dont know, there are two versions of the koran, the one mostly used in the u.s. is very mild and watered down.Of course it seems that Christians are persecuted everywhere .UNDER GOD being taken out of our Pledge of Allegiance,Ten Commandments, out of public arena, God is being taken out of everything, Believers our day is coming, Jesus is coming soon to call us home, to take us out of this turmoil...Praise the Lord...I'm ready, are you?
I realy expected alot of comments from fellow brothers but anyway, I think that it is a wise move on the president although in the begining I was outgraged about his previous statements, so basicaly I hope he is being wise as snakes but at the same time tender as doves, if you know what I mean.
