LAGOS, Nigeria, Nov. 22 -- Street violence between Muslims and Christians flared for a third day in the Nigerian city Kaduna today and spread to the capital, Abuja. Local Red Cross officials said more than 100 people had died in the fighting, which began as a protest against the Miss World pageant scheduled to convene in the capital.
[Early Saturday, pageant organizers announced that the contest would move to London, the Reuters news agency reported. "This decision was taken after careful consideration of all the issues involved and in the overall interests of Nigeria and the contestants participating in this year's edition," said a statement from Miss World Organization and Silver Bird Productions Ltd.]
