LONDON - In an eerie resemblance to the series of sniper shootings in Washington, a British copycat shooter is using an air-rifle to fire stinging pellets at unsuspecting passers-by in the city.
So far, six people, including a Labour Member of Parliament, have been shot and wounded in a four-day spree which detectives fear is an attack inspired by the random murders in Washington.
According to the Guardian, the latest victim, Bradford North MP Terry Rooney, was hit in the face by an airgun pellet in south London on Oct 16.
In a statement released yesterday, the police believed that in all the six cases, the sniper had fired at his victims from nearby buildings, but door-to-door inquiries failed to turn up any firm clues.
