Homeschooling movement gains steam in Connecticut
What do the following people have in common?

The winners of the 1997 and the 2001 National Spelling Bee. Country music singer LeAnn Rimes. Jason Taylor of the Miami Dolphins. George Washington, John Quincy Adams, and Thomas Edison.

Give up? They were all homeschooled.

Legal in all 50 states, homeschooling is one of America's fastest growing educational movements. The National Home Education Research Institute estimates that 1,300,000 to 1,700,000 children from grades K-12 were homeschooled during the 1999-2000 school year. ...

If you have a few minutes, follow the link to the full article. It is one of the best articles on homeschooling that I have ever seen.

It doesn't stop at describing why; it also mentions how. The two families described both give almost a step by step plan for seceding from the government schools.
