Another shooting: Man killed at Virginia gas station

ROCKVILLE, Md., Oct. 11 â€” Police on Friday were investigating a fatal shooting at a gas station near Fredericksburg, Va. â€” a crime that bears similarities to several others attributed to the sniper terrorizing the Washington, D.C., area. Traffic on nearby freeways slowed to a crawl as authorities questioned occupants of white vans and trucks resembling a vehicle that witnesses said was seen leaving the shooting scene.
THE MALE VICTIM, who was not immediately identified, was gassing his vehicle at an Exxon station in Spotsylvania County, just south of Fredericksburg, when he was shot about 9:30 a.m., authorities said. The victim was rushed to Mary Washington Hospital, but Virginia Gov. Mark Warnerâ€™s office later announced that he had died.
