(HealthScoutNews) -- Women who have an abortion are nearly twice as likely to die within two years compared to women who deliver their babies, with the causes ranging from accidents to suicide.
That higher mortality rate lasts for nearly a decade after an abortion.
That's the conclusion of a new study by a non-profit organization that is critical of abortion because the group says it is detrimental to women's health. The study appears in the most recent issue of the Southern Medical Journal.
In an analysis of 173,000 low-income California women, deaths from suicides, accidents and natural causes were all significantly higher among those who'd had an abortion, compared to women who delivered their babies.
Interesting study; one thing to keep in mind is that legal infanticide (abortion) attacks poor and minorities far more than average, so from this alone we should expect some increase in mortality.
It would be interesting to see the methodology for Planned Parenthood's studies. Some, I know, simply reflect mortality on the day of delivery or infanticide, and are skewed by under-reporting of infanticide-related maternal deaths.
