Nigerian scam spam on the rise

May 22 â€” Feel like youâ€™ve gotten more than your fair share of that Nigerian e-mail scam lately? You know, the one that asks you to help a national sneak money out of the country, and promises you millions â€” if only you return a phone call? Well, itâ€™s not just you. The National Consumers League and AT&T WorldNet just released a survey of the top 10 e-mail scams running around â€” and 12 percent of respondents said theyâ€™ve been begged over e-mail to help route money out of the African nation.

THE RESULTS CONFIRM the findings of a separate study conducted earlier this year by the National Consumers League indicating a 900-percent jump in the number of people receiving the Nigerian scam last year â€” making it the fastest growing e-mail scam, according the group.
