A CONFESSION etched on a newly discovered lead sheet has shaken the Mormon Church by linking its revered leader, Brigham Young, with one of the worst massacres in American history.
The note claims that the founder of Salt Lake City ordered the 1857 Mountain Meadows Massacre, when a wagon train of 120 settlers, mostly women and children, were killed after they had thrown down their weapons on a promise of safe passage.
The Church of the Latter-Day Saints, as Mormons are properly known, first tried to blame Indians for the slaughter but after huge pressure from the federal government, John D Lee, a militiaman who was Young's adopted son, was tried and executed 20 years later for organising the attack.
The Church has always maintained that the militia acted alone, despite persistent claims that documents incriminating its leaders were burned at the end of the 19th century. Schoolbooks in Utah do...
This is a great piece of evidence for demonstrating the violent tendencies of cultic Churches like the Church of Jesus Christ: Latter-Day Saints. We see the same thing in the Romanist cult, with the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society (in the form of psychological violence), etc. etc.
When a Church attempts to usurp the Bible's authority and replace it with a "prophet" a "pope" or a "president" who has absolute power over a blind congregation, the result is always an abomination; its just that we are so insensative to sin that it takes something as pronounced as a massacre to wake up our sin reigned mores.
The same defense is used by the LDS spokesman that was used by JPII to defend the Italian & Spanish Inquisitions and the Great Crusades: it wasn't the Church that did it, it was Church-members. The absurdity of this defense is that the members are so controlled that what they do must directly reflect the views that are officially espoused by the Church--they just do it in such a way that they get their hand caught in the cookie jar, while the clergy makes sure the doors are closed and no one is looking, first.
May God use the evidence provided in this article to give a "wake-up call" to the members of the LDS cult and to expose the dangers--spiritual and physical--that naturally flow from a cultic mentality, directed by a human monarch.
I continue to be amazed by the fact that there are good, God fearing people in this world who think it is their purpose on this earth to destroy anothers faith. If this happened or not is irrelevent to every person living today, for our purpose is to move forward in our existence. Some people will look at this comment and say, "well, yes it is important to us because it proves the Church is infallible." It does not. It does prove that men are infallible regardless of their faith which only support the scriptures that "all men have sinned and come short of the glory of God". So I close by saying this. Regardless of your faith, or lack there of, do as I'm sure your Mother told you to do many times... "worry about yourself".
