‘Children are not safe,’ new threat says hours after Maryland bus driver is shot on his route
Police converge on the scene of a shooting early Tuesday in Aspen Hill, Md., where a 40-year-old bus driver was shot in the chest and killed.
ASPEN HILL, Md., Oct. 22 — Hours after a Maryland bus driver was killed in a shooting that appeared to be the work of the Washington, D.C.-area sniper, police said Tuesday they received a message of warning: “Your children are not safe anywhere at any time.” It was the least cryptic and most chilling communication released from the person believed to be terrorizing the Washington area.
CHARLES MOOSE, police chief of Montgomery County and the sniper task force coordinator, tersely read the message at an afternoon news conference.
Moose said the warning came in the form of a “postscript.” He also said police “will be responding soon” to the message. He did not take any questions from the media.
