A settlement agreement in a lawsuit filed by the New York Civil Libertys Union against the Salvation Army was announced yesterday, Feb. 17. The suit, filed in 2004 on behalf of 18 current and former Salvation Army employees, alleged that, though the organization was a recipient of government funding, it was violating the division of church and state by requiring workers disclose how often they attend church, along with their religious affiliations and sign an endorsement of the Salvation Army's mission to "preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ."...
