Probably by JAMES NARES, 1715-1783 |
57 Thou my sure portion art alone, Which I did choose, O Lord; I have resolved, and said, that I Would keep thy holy word. 58 With my whole heart I did entreat Thy face and favour free: According to thy gracious word Be merciful to me.
59 I thought upon my former ways, And did my life well try; And to thy testimonies pure My feet then turned I. 60 I did not stay, nor linger long, As those that slothful are; But hastily thy laws to keep Myself I did prepare.
6l Bands of the wicked me beset, Thy law I did not slight. 62 I'll rise at midnight thee to praise, Even for thy judgments right. 63 I am companion to all those Who fear, and thee obey. 64 O Lord, thy mercy fills the earth: Teach me thy laws, I pray.

BIBLE PASSAGE:
57 ¶ CHETH. Thou art my portion, O LORD: I have said that I would keep thy words. 58 ¶ I intreated thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy word. 59 ¶ I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies. 60 I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments. 61 ¶ The bands of the wicked have robbed me: but I have not forgotten thy law. 62 ¶ At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments. 63 ¶ I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts. 64 ¶ The earth, O LORD, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy statutes.
