For some reason, your current default MP3 player still isn't the G2 Player. We need to fix that by removing your current default player:
1) From you browser, go to the "Edit" menu in the toolbar and select the "Preferences..." option at the bottom of the menu.
2) You will see a new window with several options in its right side and a long menu list on its left. Scroll down the menu list on the left until you find the bold header entitled "Receiving Files." Under that header will be a button titled "File Helpers."
3) Clicking on the "File Helpers" button creates a new list of options in the right side of that window.
4) At the bottom of the right-hand section, you will see a button marked "Add...." Click on the "Add..." button. This will open a new window.
5) Enter the following data:
- In the section labeled "Description:" enter Streamed MP3s
- In the section labeled "Extension:" enter .m3u
- In the section labeled "MIME Type:" enter audio/x-mpegurl
6) In the next section of the set-up window, you will have to do two things:
- In the section labeled "File Type:" enter .m3u
- For the section marked "File creator:" you will need to click on the button marked "Browse" above the text-entry box. Then navigate your directories to find your RealPlayer G2 application, and choose it by selecting it in the window and either double-clicking it with your mouse or by leaving it selected and clicking the "Open" button in the dialogue box.
7) You need to configure the final portion of the window; the portion is labeled "Handling."
- Next to the words "How to handle" is a pop-up menu. Click on it and select "View with Application."
8) Next to the word "Application:" at the bottom of the final section, you should see a RealPlayer icon. If it is there, then you can skip to step 10. If it is not there, proceed through step 9.
9) Click on the button marked "Browse..." to the right of the word "Application:" As in step 6, locate your RealPlayer in the dialogue box and highlight it. The RealPlayer icon will now appear next to the word "Application:" in the window.
10) Click on the button in the very bottom right of the window, marked "OK."
11) You will now be back at the "Internet Explorer Preferences" window, showing the long list of options on the left and the "File Helper Settings" section on the right. Click on the "Add..." button in the bottom right-hand section. Again, this will open a new window.
12) Enter the following data:
- In the section labeled "Description:" enter MP3 Audio Files
- In the section labeled "Extension:" enter .mp3
- In the section labeled "MIME Type:" enter audio/mpeg

13) You can skip over the area labeled "Download Destination."
14) You need to configure the final portion of the window; the portion is labeled "Handling."
- Next to the words "How to handle" is a pop-up menu. Click on it and select "View with Application."

Please examine the following screen shots and make sure your Web Browser

For some reason, your current default MP3 player still isn't RealPlayer 7 Basic. We need to fix that by removing your current default player:
1) Go to the tool bar on your Netscape Navigator browser and click on "Edit."
2) Find "Preferences" at the bottom of that list.
3) In the left hand "Category" column, choose "Navigator" and then "Applications".
4) You'll see a list of different kinds of file types to the right. As you scroll down under "Description," look for programs that have MPEG in them. When you click on them you'll see "MIME Type: audio/x-mpeg" or "MIME Type: audio/x-mpegurl." Remove them both by clicking on "Remove"
Now you need to make sure RealPlayer 7 Basic is set as your default player:
1) Scroll down until you see "audio/mpeg" or "QuickTime Audio MPEG" and double click on it. Do the following:
- In "Suffixes," type ".mp3"
- select "Application"
- click "Choose" and locate your RealPlayer 7 Basic
- Set the "File Type" to "MPG3"
- OK out of all dialog boxes. Now each time a MP3 file is downloaded Navigator should play it using the MP3 player you selected.
2) Once again, click on "New" button in the "Preferences" menu. Do the following:
- Description: Streamed MP3s
- MIME Type: audio/x-mpegurl
- Suffixes: .m3u
- select "Application"
- click "Choose" and locate your RealPlayer 7 Basic
- OK out of all dialog boxes.
- Click on a "play" link on MP3.com (Netscape then launches RealPlayer and plays the MP3 file).
