If you received one of these booklets in the mail, please let us know! Of perhaps you have a testimony of how the Gospel of John has impacted your own life. If you'd like to share it, we'd love to hear it! We welcome your feedback on this new outreach opportunity.

Examples: Ps. 102:3, Ezra 10:40, Luke 17:36, Acts 13:18, 2 Pet. 2:2, 2 John 8 Thus, it is a double-standard to accuse the NKJV translators of reporting manuscript variations when the KJV people themselves did the same!
There are no footnotes unless added by some publisher. My KJB is from Thomas Nelson and I have none and I've never seen any footnotes. The KJB is what it is, no footnotes. Occultics Westcott and Hort's miserable text was the first to go dipping into a few old Alexandrian texts altered by Origen and the gnostics. Before that, Protestant translators stuck with the received common text actually in use by Christians, didn't go looking for exotic Alexandrian texts in the possession of the Catholics, with cross-outs of cross-outs.
Special pleading (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_pleading), kenny. Few vs. many doesn't matter where categorical claims (like Mr. Hamilton makes) are concerned - even *one* KJV margin note of a variant manuscript reading means that the Translators accepted the practice of noting variants, implying that we have no right to censure others for doing the same thing. This is Biblical justice - using the same measure for all.
"Thus, it is a double-standard to accuse the NKJV translators of reporting manuscript variations when the KJV people themselves did the same!"
No it's not. Comparing the few true variant (possible alternate translations of a Greek word or phrase) readings in many KJV editions to the enormous number of doubt-creating NU and M Text readings in the NKJV is absurd. The NKJV isn't offering alternate translations, it is offering optional choose-your-own wording and phrasing based on completely different manuscripts and text bases than the ones that the KJV are translated from.
I know first hand how confusing the footnotes in the NKJV can be. I bought one when Nelson first published it in 1982 (?) and it had me totally frustrated trying to determine which reading was the right one. How can anyone have confidence in a book that calls itself the Word of God yet cannot make a firm commitment to what those very words are?
I believe that's one of the reasons for all of the confusion and ambivalence toward doctrine and Biblical standards today. Nobody using the modern versions can decide what the Bible actually says. Folks have no faith in God's Word because even those who claim to believe it can't agree on what it says.
I don't know what KJV edition Mr. Hamilton uses, but my old Zondervan has numerous allusions to variant manuscript readings in its footnotes, which I believe are original (the margin notes use Elizabethan language).
Examples: Ps. 102:3, Ezra 10:40, Luke 17:36, Acts 13:18, 2 Pet. 2:2, 2 John 8
Thus, it is a double-standard to accuse the NKJV translators of reporting manuscript variations when the KJV people themselves did the same! These variations didn't seem to bother the Puritans, who were well aware of them - the great Dr. John Gill constantly noted variant readings in his 18th-century commentaries, but never (to my knowledge) dogmatically rejected them by appealing to the "TR" the way KJV enthusiasts do today.
Likewise, the KJV itself could be accused of creating confusion, since the Geneva was in widespread circulation in 1611 (and continued to be for decades after).
Bernard wrote: There is no mention of Bible version (that I could see). Given the TBS involvement, it seems safe to assume that this is a KJV production. If it is, my question would be: Is this the wisest investment of funds for a printed gospel for evangelistic purposes in 2008? Faith cometh by hearing, but hearing cometh not readily by confusion.
This post assumes (wrongly) that the use of the KJV as an English Translation is not only ill-advised, but actually dangerous i.e. calculated to cause confusion. Nothing could be further from the truth. What produces confusion, and has produced little else,is the glut of modern translations, most of which are (to a greater or lesser extent) totally unreliable, whilst others (like the NKJV)encourage false variant readings in the footnotes, so that the very content of the Word of God is in doubt! I say, good work Sermonaudio and the TBS. May God bless the giving forth of the truth in the purest English translation available to us.
You guys should be accepting donations now for your next project. I think this could really have a big impact the more people learn of it. Again I encourage you to make banners and for people to put up on there websites. God bless.
I want to encourage you in printed gospel distribution outreach. God saved me through the reading of John and Matthew when I got a paperback NT in the mail from an anonymous sender. (This was when I was a teenager.) Before that, I had not heard the gospel. In fact, the Bible I received was answer to prayer; I had asked Him to reveal Himself to me, and the Bible arrived soon after that.
I wish I would have learned about this sooner. I just sent out an e-mail to everyone in my contact list and posted this on a bunch of websites. Do you guys have a banner that I could put up on my website? God bless.
Why don't you post this project in a more conspicuous location on your site? I can't believe that there only 40 some sponsors when you have 1,400 users on-line at any given time. It must be that they don't see the promotion.
We have surpassed our original target of 10,000 booklets! With only one more week of sponsorship opportunity to go, let's see if we can reach 20,000 copies to New York City! Thank you to all who have been so kind in participating in this outreach!
I believe this would be absolutely one the wisest possible investments of anyone's funds. This is a brilliant idea and I will happily support SA and TBS in this endeavor both prayerfully and financially.
Our church is going to take up a special offering for this great opportunity. Perhaps you might ask the leaders of your church to do the same and let the church make the donation. That way you would not have to worry about the credit card thing.

I wonder if you might be interested in joining up with another similar project, this one audiovisual in nature, which would complement your own hugely (IMHO). If you remember the Visual Bible series of Matthew/Acts, etc, Bruce Marchiano who portrayed a highly refreshing "smiling" Jesus, has now almost finalised production of "The Gospel According to John" which looks set to become another awe-inspiring movie. If you are interested check it out at The Gospel According To John.
May God bless your own endeavours to provide His Word to our current (apostate) generation, and both projects will be around long after He calls us all home!!

Unfortunately, at this time we are only able to accept support online through the provided means in order to keep our administrative overhead to a minimum. Our servers and the payment page are very secure as we take security very seriously. Also, the donation is not tax-deductible because we are not a 501(c)3 charity organization. Thank you!

I'm sorry you are having trouble. We just did a test here with a credit card and it worked without any problems. Perhaps you can try again? Please make sure you are entering your card number with JUST the numbers. Thank you for your support!
I tried to contribute individually with my credit card and entered everything and pressed the submit button and got the message "error, you did not submit a credit card number". Yet I did. Do you take Discover? This is probably not the place to ask but I need your help as I want to be a part of spreading the Gospel. Also, if there is a problem with trying to donate with a credit card, perhaps this can be fixed so I as well as others can donate by credit card. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Kindest regards.
I want to encourage others to get on board with this outreach project. This is another opportunity provided through Sermonaudio where you can reach others with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There's no better way than through The Gospel of John project.
