It’s really important as human beings that we know our place! God is the Creator of all things, the Lord of history, and the Father of all. Our true place and dignity is to be faithful creatures, servants and children—to receive from, obey, and love God wholly and to give to, serve and love our neighbours before ourselves. Much of the anguish in the world is through our trying to do and be more than we ought—when we try to be God. We try to control our own world and destiny, and that of others. And so doing we arouse the jealousy of God and find our god-like delusions opposed at every turn. There is no peace like the peace of knowing that God is God, and I am not God. Jesus has come ‘to guide our feet into the way of peace’—a re-ordered world in which we are the glad children of the Father who are settled in being what He has called us to be.
